I have been in SL for little over a month now. I have enjoyed all that I have seen and met many wonderful people. I have decided to organize a media group. When I get on this evening the group will be Sly Media Group.

I have many idea for this production group but my first project will be to produce a in world Newspaper. At this time it will be a weekly newspaper if interest is great the newspaper will go into production on a daily basis. I am looking for reporters, photographers, and production people.

Reporters:

Staff Reporters: These positions will be assigned a certain number of sims to report on. Keeping us updated on important news from around SL. Positions will also be divided by Features, Arts and Entertainment, Sports, ect.

Freelance Reporters: Those who can not commit to a group of sims to report on. Those who may want to do interviews, event reporting, ect.

Columnists: Those who have want to be a Carrie, or Dear Abby for the Newspaper. This positon will have a weekly commitment.

Photographers:

Staff Photographers: People who are interested in capturing the stories in pictures.

Freelance Photographers: Those who can not commit to a weekly project.

Production People:

Layout people: organizing the layout of the newspaper. So that not one person is always responsible for getting the paper out.

Scripting people: I am sure as this project grows we will need many scripts to make this easy to read. Looking for a scripter to help with this.

At this time position will not be able to be paid a great amount. But as the Newspaper grows so will salaries. Get in on the ground floor of the a media production group.

Date and time for first meeting is forth coming.

Need for Staff:

I need:

4 Staff reporters for the PG sims. (each reporter will be assigned 18 sims to report on, one luck reporter will have 19 sims to report on.

2 Staff reporters for the M sims. (each reporter will be assigned 18 sims to reprot on)

2 Staff photographers. (one PG sims and one for M sims)

not sure what i can commit to.. maybe i could start as a freelance.. then, if i can, i could get promoted to full-time?

i'll look up the group next time i'm in-world and ask to join.. is this your preferred method of contact?

it's a cool idea.. one that's been tried before.. i hope this pans out and works

hehe its just that its been tried a bunch of times and never pans out, but to be truthful i haven't been in SL for a few months so maybe there are a bunch now and thats what he means...

I'd like to consider helping out, but i want to make sure i'm gonna be back in SL for a while first.

Thanks for all the responses both here in IM in the world. RL took me away for a few days. But I have been working on this project on paper.

I think we need a newspaper for our world here in Second Life.

Now just to get a time for a meeting I will get back to you all.

I know Davo was trying to get a classifieds magazine off the ground, but didn't get enough volume to make it feasable.

However as one of the people who would have posted ads to his magazine, i'd love to see a classifieds section..

Siggy, I will keep you in mind about classifed section.

Bam, I will add you to my freelancing list too.

Merwan, My thoughts on distribution are this, We have many telehubs, right now they are not being used, I plan to contact the powers that be and find a way of using the telehubs as newsstands. Also I will go to the malls and shops in world to see if anyone wants to host a newsstand. I think I have read in the last few days about someone offering newsstands in there shop. I think the telehubs are the best bet for now.

Jonathan, join the Sly Media Group to keep updated on the newspaper.
