No edge prims & double sided prim

Hi All! I have two basic questions: 1) how do you make an extra thin prim so that the alpha texture applied to it doesn't show an edge? and 2) how do you make a prim that is opaque on one side, but seethrough on the other? I see them for windows and walls all the time - the occupant can see out, but no one can see in. In both of these cases, it could be a prim question or a texturizing question, or a combo. Hope you can help! Thanks!

Easiest way to make a prim that is seethrough one way only, is to put an opaque texture on one face and a transparent one on the opposite face using Select Texture.

Not sure I understand the other question, but to make the edges of a prim disappear why can't you put transparent textures on the edge faces?

If you dimple a sphere .95 and turn it into a box it will be very flat (after flattening it on the Z axis).

You can put different textures on different faces, i.e. transparent on one face and opaque on the other side. If you put an transparent texture on one side you can see out even if an opaque texture is on the other side.

Most "very thin prims" are not really all that thin. They just use a 100% alpha texture on the edges and back, and may place a second overlapping prim facing the other way ato make the 'back surface".

Tricks like dimpling a prim sphere and turning the thing back into a box can make them thinner.

Look in the forums for "microprims", and you'll find several step-by-step lessons on how to alter prims to effectively make them smaller than normal in one of more dimensions.

thank you to all who responded! I've got my solutions to both problems - it was a texturizing issue not a prim one!
