Try this .... http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/02/day-138-creating-shirt-collars-and-ties.html. If it isn't exactly what you are looking for, it will probably put you on the right track.

TY; it is the one and only tutorial found on the whole net about making collars (and I already know about it; I replicated it, but its guidelines aren't suitable for making an OPEN collar...); this is really scary!!! :-(

Um..... have you tried just modifying this one? All you should need to do is rotate its two halves apart a bit and reduce the X taper to, say, 0.15 to make it flatten out slightly. Take a look at the two photos I snapped quickly just now. If my particular tweaking solution doesn't suit you, I'd be surprised if you couldn't fiddle with some other combination of changes to make it look the way you want.

From what I see, your's surely a nice effort, though I bet that the starting prim won't render justice to it; it is too much an unreal collar.
And, worse, from what I saw around, sculpties are even far from achieving a good result too. I guess that the ones who make collars (as for anything else on sl) won't share their "secrets". But that's good fo them that we are constrained to use prim, without being able to upload meshes done with serious 3d appz; otherwise, their monopoly would easily come to an end.

why not just paint the collar?

I did this in photoshop using only an overlay of 50% grey and dodge and burn to give the highlights

(of course feminine style but could be done for a guy too)

and if someone wanted a prim tie for flexibility, that I am sure could be added easily...

there should be a pic or link to a pick above this text (SL not letting me attach it, even after cleaning out the old attachments) and uploading to my own website is extremely slow at the moment....

so if you do not see a texture or link to a pic in this message try a little later to see if it worked.

pic should be located at

or try this link (sorry about this)

A painted collar.... not real.
This isn't the prime time that I try to paint textures; but definitely the effect of a painted collar is diuretic.
