Sometimes I have a big build that is too big to link all together. If I want to make a few sets of linked groups how do I do that so that I can make sure all the prims are linked in one of the groups without having to say link the left half of the house and move it so I can drag and link the other half? Does that make sense? I can't see how without having to shift clik each piece to add it then link

you could try drag selecting all the pieces of the 2nd half. just hold down the left mouse button and drag to draw a box arounf the bits you want
Alternatetively you could make a smaller version of the building and link it then enlarge it after linking so it is one group. that trick has worked several times for me

Thankyou for your reply. so what you are saying is I could drag select a bunch of prims and link them, then drag and select a bunch more and that will not include the ones I already linked? Some of my builds have a lot of little pieces amongst the walls etc. and I am having trouble getting them all.

When trying to select a bunch of stuff at once, watch out for draw distance and LODculling limits. If you are too far away to see a prim or linkset, then you can't drag-select and include it. So floating above your house, you are likely to miss small nicknacks on the fireplace mantle, or pictures on the wall.
Here is what I do when trying to select absolutely ALL the prims in a complex build. This works even when you have dozens of linksets and thousands of prims.
1. Set one prim off to one side, where you won't accidentally select it. Color it bright red or something, to make it easy to remember what it is there for. Name that prim if you like, with the name you would want to see in inventory for this conglomeration of stuff.
2: In the advanced menu, check "Hide Selected" (Advanced > Rendering > Hide Selected).
3: Now drag-select to get the majority of your build selected. The parts you have selected will become invisible, showing only prim edges.
4: Now maneuver through the area, and shift-click to add the small things that you can still see.
5: When you think you have it all, uncheck "Hide Selected", and shift-click on that red prim that I had you set up earlier. It is all selected now, and that red prim will still be visible.
Now you can move the entire mess (slowly!), or can take it all into inventory if that was what you wanted. Take Copy will only work if the collection does not include any no-copy items.

Great tip Ceera. I will play around with that method . That is the problem I am having, once I select a bunch of stuff and link, how to get the next pile to link and so on till I get several groups of linksets out of my build.
Cheers
