A standard blender library for basic sculpts

Hi;

I know that i can create all sorts of geometrical base objects by choosing the right initial values on Domino's scripts and get the objects right away. But i get tired of remembering "how to make a basic cube" and "how to optimise it for my purpose"...
I have often thought about setting up a "standard library of basic sculpts" for blender. I had some discussion about this with the experts some time ago. We agreed on:

"there can never be a standard set of sculpts which fits all purposes"

But there can be a reasonable starters set, which may help to increase productivity. So i am currently preparing

"The basic lib of sculpts"
================

This library currently contains the sculptie pendants of the standard prims:

cube
prism
pyramid
tetrahedron
hemicylinder
cone
hemicone
tube

Do you have any opinions about what else should be included here ? I know, this is sort of an open question, but maybe some more reasonable basic sculpts can be added ? Maybe it even makes sense to add some "creative examples" just to show some solutions to
often discussed problems (like "n objects from one sculptie"...)

I will publish this library soon under the same license policy as the Domino scripts (gpl) and i will add a scripted integration into blender, so that you can "install" the library and get access to it through the blender-gui without fuss.

Any input is highly welcome. You might consider to send your ideas in form of a .blend file to me ( gaia.clary@machinimatrix.org ) so i can add them to the lib. All contributions must be publishable under the gpl license of course. And please understand, that i will make the final decision which examples will find their way into the lib...

If you think, i am running wild, then please try to stop me and tell me if there is a better way to go ...

Anyways i hope to hear from you ;-)

a couple that seems to be in demand are an octagonal tube and hexagonal tube
these could be both in the form of tubes and solid blocks

I fully support all your efforts:)
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of time and effort some are prepared to go to to make SL better

I would recommend including two versions of the cube, gaia. In your 'preserving LOD' video, you show two methods, and each has it's merits. The one you call 'wrong' is more useful when creating multi-section furniture and other objects, as you have the ability to create more 'separate' sections.

Your 'correct' method is better at preserving LOD, but it lacks the ability to be 'split' as many times, and so can be less useful in some cases.

Therefore, I'd recommend including both versions.
