I really was not sure which forum to use to post this, so its in technical too. Please forgive this duplicate post but I really would like to get input from others on this subject.

Terrain texturing in plain English:

The top 4 textures are the ones that are used when you select "none" for terrain detail in display preferences. The size of these textures should be 256x256. The Bottom 4 textures are the ones that are used when you select "some" or "full" for terrain detail in display preferences. The size of these textures should be 512x512.

All 4 textures that you use appear over the entire sim. You can adjust the level at which each texture will appear in each quadrant of the sim. The numbers with up and down arrows below the textures control the heights per quadrant.

The first number, start height, is the terrain height where you start seeing texture 1 (furthest left.) The second number, height range, is how high the land has to rise before you get to the last texture. You cant use different textures in each quadrant but you can change the height at which each texture will appear in each corner of your sim.

Starting from the left, the numbers correspond to the sim quandrants as follows:

NW NE SW SE

So adjusting the numbers for each quadrant lets us have rock on the beach level in one quadrant and sand on a high hill in different quadrant.

Also, I got a copy of the snow textures from Ryan Linden which I am sure he will not mind my sharing with other island sim owners. Please IM me inworld if you want a copy.

Concerning the water height, this adjusts the land height at which we will hit water when we lower sim land. I noticed that I had to relog before the setting takes effect.

For some reason my sun/night phase is not cycling and its always daylight for me (no i do not have the setting on fixed sun.) Anyone else having this problem?

Katykiwiw is there any more simple way to explain that?? I really need to come to Gypsy Moon so I can see what you mean to understand.

Thanks for posting this Katy, i'll be reading it over and over again

Thanks Katykiwi, that helped me understand a bit more. :)

Although, like Briana, I'm still kind of in the dark. I just need to sit down and play with it I guess.

Higbee understands it fairly well, you might try asking him for help as well, Briana. :)
