I'm confused about what to build, my lot is next to yours - are you thinking residential or commercial in that area ?

What the heck is he talking about?

Well, I was going to keep it quiet until everything was ready, but since Xavier has let the cat out of the bag:
We're building a town out in Tehma.
The purpose of this is three-fold -an experiment in colabrative building -create an attraction people want to visit -make a centralized commerce area (yes, another one)
Anyone can come and buy a lot, these are the rules:
-Buy a plot 2x3 land squares (4mx6m), you have to own the land under the sidewalk and half the road in front of your place. (This will make more sense when you see the place)
-You can make the road and sidewalk and other elements public, to save money but you have to repair them if they get vandalized
-Build a realistic building street-themed building, up to the first level. Above that, go nuts.
-Maybe spend some time making street elements, and turn them over to the public domain so they can be included in the bundle.
-Do not be a jerk.
Come and see the place, we have 6 or 7 people already building stores and it's really starting to look good. There are lots available as well as a bundle of nice outdoor textures and street elements, and if you don't feel like you could build such a building, I'm sure you could hire someone to do it for you.
Currently there is no Linden money in this (badges? We don't need not steenkin' badges), I'm mortgaged to the hilt on land and bP Jones is heavily comitted as well. I think it will be interesting to see what we can get done on our own, without management assistance.
So come on, take a risk. The only thing you have to loose is some time, money, your pride, dignity, the respect of your peers, more time and more money.

thanks for putting this plan into action Wednesday. it's looking awesome! i believe the lots are actually 8mx12m, 8mx4m of that for the sidewalk and half the road in front of your place, leaving you with 8mx8m for your shop, studio, cafe, or whatever. hurry, lots are being snapped up fast! =] bp

I would like to have a brief town meeting on Sunday Feb 9 at 10 pm EST (7 PST, other times in other places). This is for anyone who has a plot in the town. I'll try to put up a sign in-world tonight, but if you see someone whom you know doesn't check these forums, please mention it to them. If you're interested in joining the town, this is not the meeting for you. Please stop by at any other time. Topics to include - Naming the town (so start thinking) - Municipal work that needs doing. - The need, or lack thereof for a town hall. - Whatever comes up. Please kindly note that these are topics for the meeting, not for this forum I will be chairing this meeting, and as you know, I RULE WITH AN IRON FIST so we'll try to keep things brief. Stay tuned to this station for updates.

I am interested in getting involved, but I won't be at this meeting, I can't get on on the weekends (I'm out of town, no SL capable comp). Could some one post the important points here? thanks. -Pat Murphy

You know me, I'm the geeky looking avatar with the ugly pink shades . I've seen the town developing and have been wanting to put up a store. Maybe I'll be hopping on board.

Can we please refrain from rockets & other goodies during the meeting ? Being that the meeting begins at the close time of the log in server, it would be a bummer should the sim accidentally be taken down.

Actually the meeting begins three hours before the close time of the login server.
(You read the times backwards... well actually Wednesday posted them backwards... or something =)
Even so, I agree that it would be a bummer to take down the sim during the meeting.

From: someone Originally posted by Nexus Nash If anybody uses rockets... You mean like you were doing last night? What were you thinking doing that right after close time? I really want to know. I begged you not to, multiple times, in chat and in IM. Chashing sims is not cool. No one likes a sim-crasher. Being proud of the number of sims you've crashed, ever, or at one time makes you a giant tool and a griefer to boot. I'm sorry to be blunt, but this sort of thing (making missiles to crash in to the town and annoy the hell out of everyone) just doesn't fly. If you want to be annyoing for experimental purposes, please try to not do it in the one place with the highest concentration of players in the game. [ /rage ]

1: TOO LAGRIFIC! 2: The server gets full. I can't join. How's that for good business? 3: I'll join if they put extra support to handle all the crap in there lol
But it's lookin good anyways.

LOL it was only laggy cause you came in during a 'block party' that was occuring in the main intersection of town. Hopefully they will beef up the Sims, and, they will allow more people on the sims at one time!
