Hey All I'm fairly new to SL and definitely new to buildng in SL. I just bought a bit of land and have been building on it. However, a few times I've had the prims that I JUST added removed from my building after I've signed off of SL and an email from SL telling me that my object(s) have been removed because of "protected land". It's only a few of my objects that are being removed, and I am unsure why it is happening. The person who owned the land before had a building on it so I am unsure why I am having so many problems. I am on the side of a cliff -- could it be that the width of my building is too far out? impeding with the height of someone else's land ownership? (probably someone who has land ownership on the land that is on flat ground?) Please get back to me, as this is very annoying...I always seem to have to re-build my building because SL keeps on removing some of my objects. THANKS!!!!

I think the prims you place on your land must be hanging over the border and on "Linden Protected Land" This seems to be a common problem.
Just check your property lines carefully so as to not encroach on any other property.

Pituca seems to have your answer.
To make it easy to see your land borders, you can do two things. With VIEW at the top of your UI, select to show PROPERTY LINES and /or LAND OWNERS. With property lines, you will see all the actual borders on the ground. With land owners, your land will be bright green and the surrourding owned land will be red.
To help build on the side of a cliff, you can rez a thin prim along the lower border and then raise it up to the level you are building, it can serve as a temporary wall so you see right where your border is.

You can hang prims over your land edge, but they must either have their centers (where the axis is) over your land, or they must be linked to objects whose centers are over your land. I'm not sure how far you can push this limit. I did it myself because I wanted a boat dock off the side of my building.
