Linking Phantom Prims

I have a feeling that this is a really dumb question, but can someone please help?
I have a complex tree house which is small enough to be linked as a single set, the prblem is that is contains a lot of phantom foliage, and everytime I try and link it the whole thing goes either phantom or solid (depending on the root prim I think).
The only way I can think of is to link as two sets phantom / non phantom and pack into a rezzer, but is there a trick I'm missing???

You can turn the phantom bits solid, then make them flexi, then link it all. Pieces will need some adjustment in orientation, shape, etc.

Linking a phantom prim to anything makes everything phantom. That's one of the "features" of SL prims.

actually, if you check SLwiki's script library, there's a script there called phantom child i believe. It makes any child prim in a linked set phantom without bothering the other's solidarity. But if it is used on the parent prim, the whole set will go phantom so do be careful k?

/me repeats: turn the phantom bits solid then MAKE THEM FLEXI and link them. Flexi prims are phantom linkables.

O.M.F.G. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Too bad this trick doesn't work on sculpties though....

there is a way via scripting to do it also (actual phantom) but if memory serves it's not all that reliable....you'd have to search because I don't know it offhand, never had much personal use for it

Yeah. Search the scripting library for "Phantom Child", and you'll find that trick.

Have you tried out the flexi-sculpty unofficial resident-made client? It's funnish and will lead to great things eventually, I'm sure.
