My friend and I make furry AVs on SL and when working on molding and shaping paws to the hands and getting prims to cooperate with the base human fingers, we thought it would be really nice if it were possible for Linden Labs to make it so that fingers and palm were attachable points within the game, instead of just being the hand. Anyone else think this may be an idea worth submitting to them?

fingers are morphs they are not animated adding attachment there is the same as linking to the same prims as attached to hand im sure thousands of ideas are submitted to lindens so sure submit your idea. I would like to see complete new avatars fixing all the problems we have but in reality i dont see the lindens changing the existing avatars that would break existing content. and adding new sets would cause tons more lag like flexys did. and even if they started on this it would be years before we saw them hopefully by then there will be much better 3D worlds or 3D internet like VRML dreamed of in the 90's

There have been requests in for literally years for LL to add more attachment points. And they have done nothing, nor are they very likely to do anything any time soon. Improvements to the avatar are a very popular request type, and simply never have happened.
People have asked for more attachment points virtually everywhere. Places to attach tails, other than stomach or pelvis; places to individually attach finger rings; Places to attach a collar that doesn't take away the ability to also wear a necklace; Multiple attachments on the forearm and lower legs. The list is almost infinite.
The worst part with doing anything for the hands is the fact that we can't control hand position reliably with animations. No matter what your animation says, the hand will cycle through one of 5 random poses, from a lightly closed fist to flat with fingers splayed. So if you are doing prim paws, you almost need to use an invisiprim to eliminate the actual hand entirely, and attach your prim-animated paw to the wrist.
