I have python installed but there is absolutely no scripts folder in the Blender folder at all. I want to export a file to SL, but can't seem to get past this basic step. Any pointers? I use Windows XP.

Try this tutorial. That should solve all your problems with blender installation:

I'm actually having some problems too. I downloaded Blender, installed it, downloaded Domino's stuff, installed that, and kept getting the "Python not found" error message. So I downloaded Python, had it install in its own C:\Python folder, which didn't work, so deleted it and reinstalled it into c:\program files\blender\scripts. That runs fine, but after installing Domino's stuff over that, Blender can't find his stuff. I didn't understand the advice to open a text in Blender to check for the correct install folder. What exactly should my folder hierarchy look like, and what needs to be installed where?

Oryx,
This is my setup and I've had no probs with using Domino's scripts........
Installed Blender to where all my applications are grouped: C:\Apps\Blender\Rel2.48\blender.exe.

Installed Python to similar folder: C:\Apps\Python

Downloaded and drag/dropped Domino's files to where Blender installs its background stuff on my system: C:\Documents and Settings\Drifter\Application Data\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts

If you hover the cursor on the bottom edge of the top control bar in the Blender screen and get a little up/down icon then lclick and drag down, you'll get a whole set of control options. The File Paths tab has a button for 'Relative Paths Default' which I suspect will reset things to where Blender expects to find them. Maybe someone else can advise in more detail on that aspect.

Hope that's helped.

That sounds sensible, Drifter. I'll give it a try later. Thanks! :)

And don't forget to go File> Save Default Settings so it keeps your changes for the next startup.
This is an intentional Blender feature so you can change/save settings for different jobs or setups which stay with each .blend file.
