OK, so I'm a bit slow. I have ignored the new slice tool in Edit until this week, but I have to say, it is WAAAAY cool. I have been making prim parts for shoes recently, and it is so nice to be able to slice up a hollowed, doubly tapered cylinder and get just the part that I need. It also makes terrific thin buttons. I don't know how we ever got along without it. Sorry ..... I just had to tell somebody. /me hums and goes back to work.

From: Rolig Loon I don't know how we ever got along without it. cattle prods and barbed whips... (by which I mean to say, "prim torture" at least until they broke it for the newer prim types) =)

latest viewer you can slice cube and cylinder, like really paper thin, to the point of it disappearing and if I remember correctly it gives a different angle of chamfer with cut.

From: Amaranthim Talon Wait.. "newer prim types"? Whaddaimiss???? the good old days when prims didn't support different hole shapes, or some of the features that are available now... circa... 2005? you could get some of the things (like the current slice) by starting with a type that used that parameter, setting it, then converting to the type you wanted (slice would have been, sphere, set dimple, box)... when they added new features like the hole shape (and a few others) they just entirely replaced the old types (but you could still create them by script). check out (at the bottom) for more info about the topic
