I have a question. I made a carpet (a flat box and stretched all 4 sides) Then I put a texture on it and played with the repeats until it looked right. Then I was happy with it so I closed the edit window.
and then it shrunk back to a tiny flat cube.
So I restretched and retextured it, and then I closed the edit window, and it shrunk again to a tiny flat cube.
why?

most likely packet loss. There are two vertical bars up in the right corner of your sl client. to the right of hte money readout. the right bar indicates bandwidth usage. The left bar indicates packet loss. if the left bar is red and tall it means you're loosing lots of packets so what happens is your client lets you edit hte object but then can't send the update to the server and so it eventually reverts to how it was.

That makes sense, but the little flat box that it turned into still had the texture I had put on it. So it kept the texture, and shrunk, could packet loss do that?

Actually from what I've noticed, this is a common bug in SL. One they cant seem to get fixed *grumble*. From what I've seen, this only seems to happen to prims that are at the minimum width (i.e. .01). If you increase the width a bit, say .5, do whatever you need to do to it, then take the focus off of it , hopefully it will stay that size. Then come back and change it to .01 & see if that works *crossing fingers for ya* -Syn

Thank you so much! that makes a lot of sense. It was the min. width which would explain it.
