If you've done it before in Maya, I'd really like to know what you did. I'm sure somebody clever could rather easily write a MEL script to interpret sculpt map data for rebuilding geometry, but I've never seen one. If anybody's got one, I'd love to see it.

There are of course ways to hack geometry out of your video card as you're seeing it in SL, but since there's such potential for theft with that, I won't go into details on it. Hopefully no one else will either. What I will say, though, is that if you do it, be prepared to spend a good long time doing clean-up work afterward. The capture is never clean. Polygon groupings end up having nothing to do with what you and I think of as distinct objects. They're arranged by whatever groupings the video card considers to be the best draw order in the particular frame you capture. Separating all that, recombining the polys into prims, and then reconstructing the UV maps can be very tedious.

I see okay..And yeah when I loaded one somehow into Maya it wasnt how it was supposed to be.
Why I want to do this is because I seem to have lost something I did in maya but i loaded the sculpts into sl a while ago so thought I could just send it back into Maya.:/
