there are Two Major Errors occurring on the forum right now that prevent posting, and here is how you can get around them

Step 1:
click , scroll to the bottom under "Miscellaneous Options" and choose "Basic Editor - A simple text box" from the drop down menu, then hit click "Save Changes"

Step 2:
if you still get an error when posting, be aware that the following combinations in your post will also cause this problem

a) the word "from" anywhere after the words "select" or "delete"

b) the words "set" or "copy" anywhere after "update"

c) the word "into" anywhere after the word "insert"

d) any relative directory references like "../"

e) a "<" followed by a non-breaking character (so put a space after it)

f) the word "code" also causes some problems that I couldn't trace, so you may want to use
CODE
 tags instead of
CODE
 tags when posting code

Step 3:
if you still find an error after that, cut out lines of text until you find the offending line, and then check each word used in that line, to see which once causes the problem... then insert a period in the middle of it or misspell it purposes and post the "bad" word here, so others might avoid it too

NOTE:
this applies to thread titles too!

Would not have posting in in one place been enough ?

This needs to be stickied to M Linden's forehead.

not everyone visits all the forums, and I only propagated it to the top level resident forums. Unfortunately strife's inbox is full, and it doesn't look like millie hasn't seen my note yet, dunno if any of the other mods that have power are still around...

normally I'm not one to cross post, but considering the recent increase in problems (mostly due to editor type and "<";) it's something everyone will want to know about.... (although 20 seconds is way to short for a post flood filter, they really should fix THAT too)... and a fix from LL seems rather unlikely (for various reasons that make me angry so I won't get into it)

Thanks, Void. This really should be stickied at the top of every forum until it's fixed (which unfortunately probably means forever).

No, no, no.... They are going to 'fix' the forums soon, once they find a vet that will see them.

We have reported this issue to LL in last december. They told us officially, that they are not responsible (realy!) and we should contact the forum administrators instead of LL support. I wondered who is actually driving the forums, if not LL ...

So i contacted the administrators once, twice, three times... I finally got an answer from a volunteer, who told me that she can't help me with "my" problem. I wondered even more about the tasks of a volunteer regarding the forums... And asked again, who is driving the forums ... and it turns out that nobody seems responsible...

I learned from this to live with the workarounds and don't bother any more. So better stick with "fr0m" and "salect", no space to upload images, no new forums, ... and such... And if sometime "in far away eternity" this forum will be replaced by something else, then i guess that there will be other defects...

so what .. that's digital life, no ?

BTW: There is one feature, that works almost perfectly: I occasionally ask the forum administrators to rename one of my threads to something more adequate and they always did that for me (although they did it silently without notification) So there must be someone out there in the dark who feels at least a bit responsible...

there are a few remaining resmods, with some limited power (lock threads, change titles, sticky things) but to be honest they're overwhelmed with both the amount of work it'd take to police all the forums, and the absolute lack of support and feedback from LL. occaisionally they fulfill small requests, that have no contradictory impact, but that's mostly it... and then only out of kindness)
