I am new to SL and wanted to know how I could find a few of the more experienced players of SL who would be interested in donating some of their online talents and time to help out some Special Olympians. I have a few friends that have various physical and mental disabilities that were interested in experiencing SL and meeting some new friends online. I wanted to be able to help them with the controls on this end, and I thought it would be nice to have a big brother/sister avatar, who could show them the possibilities of the SL environment, while providing some sense of security, as well as, some friendly conversation. I would appreciate any help and I would be glad to provide further details or information. If you know any especially considerate people who would like to make a difference, please let me know.

Thanks,

Matt Farber

I'm currently away from SL, and it may be a few weeks before I can get back.

However, I'd love to help if you still need assistance at that point. Awesome idea. I think more and more we'll see SL being used as a therapeutic/social training tool.

Good job!

Sounds to me like what the Mentors do. My advice would be to talk to a mentor in world, or even better, talk to Char Linden about whether or not it would be suitable for them.

Just o point of view, but it looks to me like it's the sort of thing you're after.

Not to put a damper on this, but will the special olympians be 18 or over?

Regarding the question of age, 'yes' they are over 18.

Thanks for the interest and concern.
