right, so I've been reading Snowcrash lately, and I'm fascinated by the Central Intelligence Corporation in the book..

Basically, it's a clearing house for all information, and if someone requests information that you've contributed, you get paid.

Is this feasible within SL? :D

wouldn't it be easier to open your web browser? :) or do you mean just SL related informarion? i haven't read the book. where did the money to pay contributors come from? did you have to pay to use the database?

The database was run by a corporation... I imagine you paid a fee for the privelige of rifling through the database.

And yes, I meant SL-only information. :D If you find a piece of information, you could send it in, and if anyone requests it, you get money and credit.

Eh?

I started a SecondLife Wiki a while ago. I indended on adding a decent amount of information to get it off the ground and then hand it off to the community but... well, I'm lazy.

So, feel free to Wiki away at http://www.lilmikey.com/slwiki

Ive read snow crash at least 3 time its one of my fav books. Now do you wanna collect all sorts of info like who attended events, what was said, images , info stacks on player and sims? How would you collect the info ? would you have both member and non member stringers working and conducting info collection. i like the idea.

Hmm this would probably fit well with the Hitchhiker's Guide to Second Life someone brought up a while ago.
