Ok I am tired of slamming my head against a wall so I will ask for your help. I downloaded my tiny little island/s terrain file, played around with it in Photoshop and made some little tweaks here and there. Can anyone tell me a program that I can upload this thing into and preview it BEFORE sending to SL ?
If I get the mountain in the middle thing I would like to know if it is my error or an upload error. There are tons of 3d programs out there so anyone help pointing me in the direction of a free 3d viewer that can read tga files or anything that can be exported from Photoshop would be great. Thanks in advance!

http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/ terragen and i checked this one myself it does have support for tga files, just click the import button from the landscape window after you have launched the program it can support image files 8 or 16 bit or uncompressed .tga or raw 8bit files with SGI 16bit/8bit/RBG (*.sgi,*.bw,*.rgb) and (24bit uncompressed) (*.tga) and its 100% free |

You should be able to use it as a displacement map on a plane in any 3D package too.

I've not used Bryce, but I'd guess you just have to convert the RAW file into a texture format Bryce will load. TGA should work.

Need help with Terragen

Hi,
I read this thread and got a copy of Terragen...cool app! I got a copy of the RAW file and loaded it into Terragen - I was suprised to see the huge difference between what I see in SL and what Terragen shows. I posted a queestion earlier in this forum about possible tips or hints for using Terragen with SL land - I'm concerned about 'breaking' my land just be exporting from Terragen since it looks so different when compared to SL. Has anyone tried Terragen for terraforming an island? Thanks -2fast |
