I rented two shops in SL and am interested in sellling tattoos. I only have one made atm but I can easily make more within a few hours. First I'd like someone who would be will ing to set the shops up so that someone will get a landmark when they visit, they are able to buy my products by clicking on the pictures of the items, etc.. Nothing super fancy. Please send a message to Shadowfury Andretti in game or leave a message here with rates. I will pay half up front and then other half when you are finished for security purposes. Also, I am not sure how this would work.. meaning would the person need to log into my account? Need someone who is good with this stuff to help me out.

Thank You,

Lisa

Shadowfury, normally I am all in favor of paying people to do things they are better at than you are, but in this case I really think you are better off learning how to do these things yourself. Setting up a vendor board is very simple once you have basic building skills (putting a texture on a prim and resizing the prim). You do not even need to script to do this; setting items for sale is done in the Edit window.

If you pay someone to set up your shop for you it becomes a much more complicated proposition - what if you want to update one of your vendor boards or add a new one? Will you call this person (and pay him or her) every time you want to tweak something in your shop?

Just go to NCI or Ivory Tower of Prims and get a handle on the most basic prim-manipulation functions and you will be setting up your own vendors in no time.

As for giving people a landmark when they arrive - just my opinion, but you don't want your shop to do this. It's annoying. Every time it comes up here on the forum you see people saying over and over again "I always reject LMs that get handed to me on arrival." If visitors want a landmark, they can take one themselves.

Thank you! I was just worried that it was rather difficult. I didnt know that you didn't need scripts for someone to purchase the items so I guess this is why I felt like I was having such a hard time. I already know how to make the item, box it up, and put a texture on it. It was just hanging it up in the shop that I was confused about. But your post really helped.

Thank you!

Hey if you already know how to box it up and put a texture on the box you are really almost all the way there!

To set an item for sale, rez it in your shop. Then Edit it and look for the "set item for sale" radio button toward the bottom of the (I think) Object tab. In this case you want to set it to sell a copy of the item's contents. You can enter the price you want to sell it for. Easy!

Just make sure you have the permissions set the way you want on the item you are packaging. Have a friend come and test your setup to make sure she gets the item you intended to sell, for the price you intended her to pay, with the permissions you intended her to get.

Good luck!

Yep. This is the biggest thing. Get a friend, give them a few bucks to buy the stuff and have them buy and make sure the permissions on the items are set right. Your friend will end up with a bunch of free tats when all is said and done, but that's way better than accidentally doing it full perm and pretty soon EVERYONE has free tats. lol
