Alright, i've been trying for some time to make a mask, i have a texture that i'm having trouble saving as a targa....

/109/07/35161/1.html#post377680

so if i have a tecture that supposedly has transparent spots (alpha layer) can i make a basic prim and when i put the texture on, will it show the parts that are transparent??

or what would i have to do to make a mask, make a million little prims? (i know it would be more like 5 prims)

thanks for ur help, heres the texture in psd right now, read the other thread about my problem with it.

I have that same program, Photoshop Elements 2.0, and I have been told that it wont save .tga with alpha layers. I have tried a couple of times with no sucess so I assumed I was told the truth. If someone knows a workaround, that would be great.

I have been told to try GIMP, a free photo editing program that will save the files properly, but I havent tried it out yet.

I just opened it and saved it as a targa file with no difficulty - are you saving as 32 bit? If you have Photoshop 7 did you install the patch (otherwise it won't make alphas)? I'd better go and read your other thread.

...hmmm... back from the other thread... Don't know what to tell you except that I can make a targa with no problem - it doesn't seem to be anything about your file itself.

Photoshop 7 patch

Nicky...you can find the Photoshop 7.01 patch here:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows

This enables .tga files retaining it's transparency. I haven't tried your mask .psd there but it works fine for me in CS. Saving as a copy is fine, if you don't want the word "copy" in your file name, just change it.

Good Luck! ;)
