Hello everybody,
can somebody tell me how to find the max amount of prims I can use onto my land in order to build a house? In addition, is there a button that tells me how many prims I have already used onto my house so I know how many I have left in order to reach the max number?
thank you,
Chiara

Click the blue text at the top of the screen with the location data and go to the objects tab, it'll tell you how many prims your parcel supports and how many you've used/have left.

While you are standing in your parcel, use World >> About Land ... and look at the "Objects" tab. It will tell you what you both the maximum and the current prim count. If your house is all that's in the parcel now, you'll know how many prims are in it. Of course, you can always use Edit to select your house and get the prim count on the "General" tab as well.

Thank you all so much for your help,
and something more... textures are considered prims too? Or better, what are in sl considered as prims and countable to your max nr.?
Is it possible to increase the nr. of prims a land can handle? And if yes how and if there will be any charge...

Prims are prims. That's it. A texture is a decoration on a prim.

Before you begin building in earnest, I suggest taking some time to visit the Ivory Tower of Prims. They have excellent self-paced tutorials that will not only answer basic questions like the ones you're asking here, but also help you get a firm understanding of the edit tools. It's a REALLY good idea that will save you a lot of frustration.

Rolig Loon, thank you for your answer... I have indeed visited the Ivory Tower and now to be honest I am on my Land trying to place my first non complete home... another question is where can I get estimates regarding the cost that I could sell this house... I will be very glad to offer you a tp if you know any of these answers. In addition, if I do not want strangers to pop up by, or if the buyer will not want, all this is managed from the objects tab?
Thank you again for your time...

You determine price the same way you do in RL..... you do a LOT of market research. Wander all over SL looking at what other builders are selling. Get a feel for how elegant/efficient their work is and how much they are asking for it. Ask yourself what your time is worth, how many houses you'll have to sell before you break even, and what "break even" means. There's really no answer that anyone else can give you. If your work is priced poorly, you'll find out soon enough. It will either sell WAAAAYY too fast or not at all. So then you change the price on it, or on the next house.

Restricting access is done from World >> Estate. If you own the land, you can be as restrictive as you want. If you only want to restrict access to your house, then you can buy a security system. There are many on the market. You should be aware, though, that security systems will not stop prying eyes (or cameras), and can be of limited value in thwarting determined visitors.

Thank you so much for your response... you really are of a great help to me....
another question :-((
my neighbors tree drops over my land and particularly drops where I want to build my first floor... is there anything I can do?
I insist if you wish of course to come and give a look... just to tell me a truthful opinion... the house is not ready yet... the stairs have no texture and the first floor is not done yet, but the idea you will get... if it is worthy as a house.
Please by no means I am trying to sell this house to you, already a very close friend in rl wants it and as a good friend I will not charge her, but like that I can not tell if it worths something or not...
I will be very happy if you pop up just for a sec...
if not, thank you so much for your time...

other peoples objects shouldn't encroach on to your land. because they are tree branches they shouldn't be effecting your prim count, so your ok there, in general I would encourage residents to live with this, it's a minor annoyance at best. But as you have said it will effect your building and therefore something should be done. The first step is to politely point this out to the owners of the tree and explain it will go into your house and ask them to move the branches from over your land. But please first be certain it really is over your land. If they are less than helpful, depending on where your land is you can report it, if it is mainland you have to send a Abuse Report to Linden Lab. If it is private island land, you should approach the estate manager and ask them to sort it out for you.

Thank you Dekka,
I am not picky at all neither in rl nor in sl, but these branches do fall over my home and particularly (and this is my problem else I would not mind AT ALL) fall onto where the future bdr would be... and I am sure that would cross into the room...I will not do anything yet, until the house is ready and placed into position and see that indeed bothers the room...by the way the land is on water and not mainland, is this a problem?
Thank you all for your support and help... :-)))

I guess by water, you do mean private island land, if that's the case it's not a problem, this is something the estate manager should handle, if a request from you to your neighbours is ignored. If you don't know who your estate manager is, contact the owner of the island estate and talk to them about it, any reasonable private land owner will sort this out quickly.

I'll be in game soon, I'd be happy to have a look at your house.
