Realistic solar path

Hi everyone,

I intend to use the Shadowcast client for some real life architectural work. Using the environment settings, it is possible to get the sun exactly where you want. However, I am no math genius of any sort and I start shivering when I hear the name "azimuth" because it sounds scary.

So, my intention is to figure out the following:
-Where to get real world sun path data for the Netherlands (at least for one day in each month of the year)
-How to convert this data to the values that the SL environment uses (daytime&east angle, correct?) in order to have a solar orbit path identical to RL.

If there is anyone who could help me with this, I'd be incredibly grateful.

Thanks in advance,
Doeko

http://www.math.niu.edu/~rusin/uses-math/position.sun/

That sould not be THAT tricky.
Start with a MODEL what contains sun and earth:

Then locate your position on earth, how many degrees away from its equator and how far from daytime border or 0°Greenwich it is (depending if your calculations are relative to UTC or GMT)
Then tilt the earth axis by its axial tilt.
So far for the model.

Realism is overrated, i loved to have sl sunsets in the north and south.

hehe. That's kind of tricky. The main issue is that the SL environment editor only takes values between 0.01 and 1.0 :)

Realism is overrated, but unfortunately this is for case studies about stuff that is in RL so the shadows that are cast have to be exact.
