Hi,
is there a way to determine at which position ( preferrrably a vector ) a prim was touched. Imagine something like an imagemap in HTML, only 3D.
Feasible? If yes please give me some hints, i can figure out the rest alone.
Thank you,
C.

this might be better suited for the scripting forum, but Ill give it a crack. Short answer, no (that Im aware of). Long answer yes, with a but. Yes, you can make things like GUI's and buttons, BUT it must be done with seperate prims, make a single image or whatever as your background, then drop invisible prims over the image where people should be clicking. If you cover the face of your prim in smaller prims and script them you could easily tell where on the face they clicked. That to the best of my knowledge is the only way to do this.

I know someone who did it for mouselook by getting the avs location and rotation. There was some problems with it though. Still worked fairly well.

From: billy Madison You know this seems to be more and more of a problem. People need to stop being so perveted and touching prims in the no no spot! BURN IN HELL PRIM MOLESTORS! Whats this about? Is this some sort of joke billy? Good and bad touching is something that widely has not been addressed by the SL community. I think we should push forward on the prim touch detecting technology. Bad touching should not be tolerated. Note to Lindens: Might want to put that in the community standards. "NO touching prims in the no no spot."

Thanks, and my thoughts to the nono spots

Thanks everybody, i suspected that - sigh.
And regarding the nono spot - remember Rura Pente?
"Not every species carries its genitals in the same place"
How am i to know where the nono spot of this specific prim is - depends on its cultural background, ancestors, creator, whatever
- Problems - Questions - So much confusion
Ill spend the rest of my life in a trappist monastery...
Greetings, C.
