I may be wrong, so someone feel free to correct me; I believe angular tells how much your vehicle will spin when hit, and linear tells how much in a straight line it will move when hit by something.
example 1: a vehicle is hit on an angle and the vehicle has 100% angular and zero linear deflection; the vehcile will begin to spin around, but still continue in the direction it was traveling before the hit. example 2: a vehicle is hit on an angle and the vehicle has 0% angular and 100% linear deflection; the vehicle will keep it's rotation relative to the world, but will be moving in a new direction based on which way it was traveling before the hit and the angle of what hit it. _____________________

That doesn't sound right because I belive I've seen something like angular.x in movement controls....maybe? What would being hit have to do with driving a vehicle?

heh, doesn't have much to do with being hit, except that a hit might set you moving I suppose. Deflection means it's going to change your motion direction, deflect it. Angular Deflection means that your vehicle will try to point the direction it's moving. Linear Deflection means your vehicle will modify it's motion to move the direction it's pointing.
Angular means rotate or turn, having to do with spin, in this case that your vehicle will try to spin or turn itself. With only angular deflection your vehicle won't change the direction it's moving on it's own, it will just change the direction it's pointing. Linear means line, or in this instance that your vehicle will try to move along the line it's pointing down. With only linear deflection your vehicle won't change the direction it's facing on it's own, just the direction it's moving. |

heh, I see "deflection" and I immediately think of newtonian collisions. but the concept is still the same, angluar reffers to rotating the vehicle (in your example angular.x means it's only effecting rotation along the x axis), and linear reffers to moving the vehicle in a straight line.

Ohh.. uhh.. hmm..
So does angular take effect before linear then? Or does it happen so quickly it doesn't matter which happens first? So Angular would be controlled with the steering wheel, and Linear with the gas pedal.. And then 'Deflection' could be just a term so as to not confuse myself .Oh if all that's correct then you people's've been a great help! *EDIT* Angles and Lines! Oh I'm so stupid - Jolan |
