I am going into information overload reading all this stuff about open spaces. I had a desire of getting an open space one day just for myself. Put up a house and build a reef. But now I cant. I decided to go ahead and get an open space now from LL before everything hits but that option is gone from the land store for me. Regular region only. And current open spaces owners cant be transferred anymore apparently.

So what are my options? Wait til January or rent one from a resident? If I rent from a resident and they decide to snuff it I am left homeless right? So I gotta wait til January?

Just wondering. Thanks in advance for any answers.

The truth is, unless you already own a full sim you can't purchase one anyway which has always been the case. Renting is the only option for those who only want an open space.

Tyran, you need to do a little groundwork here. Firstly, are you prepared to pay the purchase price and the minimum possible tier when LL put the prices up - can you afford that each month? (I know there are estate owners who will rent for less than the tier cost, but I would suggest you need a strong understanding of their business model - otherwise they could, as you put it, "snuff it". Sadly many do.) Don't forget you're asking quite a bit from an estate owner - they are responsible for the tier to LL so they have to put the money up front. It is not unknown for residents to lease sims from estate owners and then "snuff it", leaving the estate owner to carry the tier until they can find another renter/lessee; and at $125 a month come July that's some commitment they're taking on on your behalf.

Assuming you are, there are many honorable estate owners out there in SL. Ask in the forums, ask your friends, especially TP to an estate and ask the residents there what their experience has been.

As Choco said, if you want an Openspace on its own, you'll have to use a resident offering one - you can't currently get one from LL on its own unless you already own a full sim.

Good luck in your search

you can't buy an open space sim if you don't own a full prim sim from the lindens.
The only option you have is to buy or rent one from an estate owner.

We have some free OS sims at the moment. Tier per week now is 7K; in january it will be 8750l$.

If you want to have the sim with your own name we can order a new one for you. You better do it before the end of the year because the purchase prices will go up to.
