That would eliminate most of the abuse, and people using it for its intended purpose, without thousands of laggy scripts, could enjoy the space without paying additional tier.
It is almost wholly unworkable now to buy one now.

Why not just drop the prim limit back down to 1875? |

Because prims aren't the problem?

Based on analysis performed in August and September, Openspaces are being used about twice as much as we expected, in other words being loaded with double the content/avatar load than we’d expect for a region that is supposed to be light use. Content = prims. Avatar load, they can also put a check on, but less content usually means less avatars. Bumping up the price doesn't address the content problem, it just crushes demand in an overbroad manner. People using OSs for light use as intended will no longer carry them. People considering buying light use sims for their intended purpose will not buy them, not when it is more cost effective to buy a full sim instead. Dropping the limit back to 1875 allows people who really do want light use sims to have them, at a cost that is still reasonable. _____________________

I know of a 1024xm2 club on the mainland that constantly has a 20k-30k traffic without bots and using only 200 prims. Unfortunately, where there is a will there is a way and people will all always find a way to abuse - indirectly and directly. _____________________

Dropping the limit back to 1875 allows people who really do want light use sims to have them, at a cost that is still reasonable. One avatar loaded up with attachment/HUD scripts can max out an openspace sim. None of those attachment/HUD prims count against the the sim prim limit. Adding the limits that most people are suddenly screaming for just seem like new grief vectors to me.. _____________________

And jacking up the price does what, exactly?
The problem is that the system isn't balanced to handle 4 sims on one core properly. You'd think they would just fix that or impose proper limits (e.g., 10 avs per OS, limits on scripts). Dropping the prims makes the $75 tier unattractive for that price for the current pattern of rentals, but allows estate owners to keep tier status quo in relation to the previous void sim model. So folks that really did want to use them for light use - sailing, etc. would be able to keep their OS sims without having to pay an additional burden. LL used an hammer when they needed a flyswatter. _____________________

I agree, they should reduce the prim limit to the original level and limit the number of avatars to 10 - 15. Being able to terraform and have total land control along with privacy would be the "perks" of having an OSR over mainland. I still believe they should offer mid-ranged islands that are designed for moderate use, such as a residence, but then that would cut into their mainland tiers i suppose.
