If I understand this situation:
LL claim they under-estimated Open Space usage...and SL residents found new ways of using the Open Space service and now LL is receiving complaints from "xxxx" who claim their OpenSPace vitual "Ocean Front" Propery is laggy.. Humm..

If the intent was to offer OpenSpace to Full Sim owners under the concept of a pretty view and the full sim owner could have 4 per full sim then the real question is why did LL ALLOW the Open Space to be "owned/rented" by anyone other than the FULL SIM owner.

What Should of Happened - LL should have offered the Open Space to Full SIM owners with an enforceable Policy that it CAN NOT be divided or rented to anyone and no SL resident could rez or enter objects or run scripts other than the OWNER and have a maximum agent level of 10. but did they - and why?

LL distance themselves from SL residents - Every problem is caused by SL residents and LL is just here trying to help us solve our own self inflicted gun shot wounds. Anything and everything LL does to HELP us poor stupid residents with we should agree on and just go along with - After all we are the cause of this whole darn mess anyway.

I dont know about you - but i was in the board of directors meetings when the topic of offering Open Space was discussed. I cast my vote - a big fat yes, especially after i saw how it would really help out those poor stupid SIM owners just dying for open space to abuse, sell off and do whatever they want with and not a care in the world.. After all LL would step in to fix our problems, just like they do for Asset Inventory issues and all the other bad things us silly residents create.

They even go as far as re-writting the Terms of Agreement to protect us futher from ourselves and ensure any and all belong to them in the end.

What to do What to do:
1). No Price hike. LL you TAKE the short end of the stick this time and upgrade the loosy servers you have Open Space running on. You owe it to SL Residents. Without us you would not exist - period.

2). SET enforceable Policies for a change - Geeze. Since you ARE the service provider. Oh right, you are not a service provider.. Hey - Look at comcast, they are limiting bandwith per user- what is your problem ? You can not tell when scripts are pegging CPUs. or Agent Loads, or are you so poorly understaffed ? You should have called it Open Range.. I would love to see your Profit Margin- Then try to justify a price spike.

3). Get outside consultants to review your proposals - before you try to convience management its a good idea. Maybe use Gartner or another independent firm. Hopefully with outside help, you would not shoot yourself in the foot EVERY time.

4). Find a better excuse for raising the Price: Like the environment. why not double the price - and say due to severe environmental impact of running the HVAC to cool 1000s of new servers the state of xxxx imposes heavy fines for our hugh carbon foot print and engery use. They should you know.

5). Offer a server license and software to independent owners who desire to run their own server with just a grid connection to the "Free World Internet Grid". Impossible I know.

Anyway Upgrade the Open Space Servers, suck up the cost and keep the prices the same. That way everyone wins .. oh I forgot except you for a change.
