I simply can't understand this insane decision. There will be hundreds of sims closing down and perhaps thousands of people who own property on those sims who will lose everything they have invested. Invested in good faith with the now obvious reality that Linden Industries doesn't have the least concern for the individuals who have kept them in business. No one with even a basic understanding of economics believes for one second that this God awful decision to raise prices for anything at all in this economic climate will result in anything but a disaster for people like me. People like me who were foolish enough to trust their real money with a money hungry entity who seems intent on destroying their customers, and in the process commit economic suicide themselves. Reverse this dreadful decision immediately or thousands of people will lose their property and Linden will lose thousands of customers. This comes from hell and smells like smoke.

Real world disaster.

My guess is that LL is having trouble raising capital, because of the economic situation. By raising rates, they can either increase income or reduce hardware costs, so they can keep on with development. One would expect rates to only go down (unless there are expensive improvements like more prims), because of Moor's law. So one would expect the mainland rates to go down to even things our, not the Open Space rates to go up. There must be a short term business reason, and my guess is that it is the real world economy.
