Okay, everyone is going crazy about the news of the Openspace sims. And of course, with that, comes rumors and more rumors. Perhaps someone can help me weed through these.

1. Openspace sims will no longer come up in search

2. LL will somehow disable the "pay" function to no longer allow people to "buy"
anything on these sims.

3. Vendor scripts will no longer work on Openspace sims.

Okay, those are just three I have that are most pressing. If you guys have heard rumors, perhaps posting them here we can get some answers from those who know. I'm trying to keep up with what's going on but it's hard enough keeping up with the rest of my SL and RL.

Thanks in advanced!

The pricing change is supposed to be to raise the price so that people are now paying for what they're using.

If they start limiting the functionality of openspace sims, their excuse for the big price hike suddenly has some issues...

/me votes "doubt it" on all 3, unless LL changes their stated plans.

Hmm, well, tis a bad excuse, really. "Paying for what you are using" doesn't address the fact that they are still hinting that they are going to enforce appropriate use. It also doesn't address the fact that they could have easily addressed misuse by cutting prims, cutting the cap of avatars on openspaces, doing one or more of the options listed by the OP.

They chose an option that basically runs off people who use the openspaces legitimately. Revoking non-profit benefits, raising prices, all urge people who DON'T profit from their sims to leave, giving them back the hardware to resell. It's a bit facetious, don't you think?

The above options would have been far, far more in good faith.

I'm one of those that began renting an openspace sim and have to admit, use it inappropriately. Not out of disregard but more ignorance of the rules and regulations of an Openspace sim. With that said, I'm sitting at here limbo as I've become dependent on them. Of course I will have to make changes in world based on what LL does, if it is merely a price increase, I can deal with that, no problem, but it's all the other things that have me concerend. A price increase and then enforcing would become quite a headache.

I'm assuming that you want to know the current policy and changes, as opposed to just hearing about speculation.

If it isn't posted on the blog as a change and it isn't already in the knowledge database or answered via a support question from Linden itself or some other official Linden communication, then it's probably a rumor.

Since I might recap what Linden has announced incorrectly, I suggest you carefully read both of Jack's posts on the blog.

If you have a pressing issue that needs an immediate answer about current policy (not future policy), I would suggest that you file a support ticket.

For future policy/change decisions, I think we have to wait until they announce them.

If you want to know what they may be considering, then you can read the recorded chat sessions where Jack has stated that something may be possible.

Am I going to lose my home ????

I rent a tiny island which with time and many $L's I've terraformed and landscaped from a flat piece of sand into a beautifull little tropical paradise . . . .
. . . It's become my home here in SL and given SL a whole new meaning for me and many others like me .
. . . No one ever told us we weren't supposed to be here on these lands or that we're using too many prims . I for one understand nothing about these things and the technicalities involved . . . .

All I and others like me want know is . . .

. . . . . after LL has sat back and allowed this situation to develop for so long
. . . . . are we now going to lose our homes ?
