You and a few others each send $250 and buy LL a shiny new server, with a nice little profit for them to boot. Then, LL makes an ugly decision, and you and your abused cohorts storm away in a huff. Does LL weep, pull at their hair, refuse to eat for days? Draw little hearts on your picture?

No, LL smiles, and happily accepts another bunch of $250 startup fees for the hardware YOU already bought. Then they'll do it again when those people get mad and leave at some other perceived excess. And this is the "punishment" you've devised? Really?

When you abandon your land, you are doing exactly what makes them happy. They are in the business of selling things they've already sold. Don't be distracted by imaginary "land". There's no such thing as this "land" you're worried about. The real resource here is hardware.

There are things in the works that we cannot predict the outcome of. There's no doubt that the legality of this situation will be tested in the appropriate venue. We have a reasonable expectation of use when we buy a product or service. LL's actions are not what would be reasonably expected, and their excuses have no logical merit whatsoever.

If it were server use they'd limit use, not jack up prices. They can limit prims. They can limit the number of avatars allowed on openspaces. Actually, the only people who can afford the increase are the ones who ABUSE the servers, as those who don't generally don't earn income from them. So this isn't like the banks and casinos. This is just LL daring you to leave so they can resell your hardware to someone else.

So, please, don't blink. Every time someone abandons their land, LL hears that little cha-shang (cha-chung?). They will not cry and, despite your vanity, there will be a whole slew of people ready to buy your hardware, again. Get over yourselves. The party WILL go on without you. Better to wait and see if they get away with this plan at all.
