Charge backs can be a double-edged sword. If you do it, you have to give a reason. If the reason isn't sound, from your credit issuer's perspective, or if Linden Lab disputes it, it can come back to haunt you.
They definitely are not for frivolity. If you genuinely get mis-charged, then request one. However, they are not recommended for the purposes of "protesting".

I believe it is actually in most of the major card carriers' (VISA, MC, Discover) terms of contract that they can terminate your account and even attempt to recover money from you in some cases if their investigation turns up that it was a frivolous chargeback since it costs them money when you do a chargeback in terms of the labor of investigating it and dealing with fees and other expenditures between them and the payee when dealing with the transaction.

I know you are upset about your account having apparently been deleted over a small amount of money you might want to present your case in a friendly manner until at least until it is established beyond a shadow of a doubt that your account in irrevocably lost.
Promoting the Jira issue might be a better way to spend your time. There are many places and method to get votes for that Jira. The Jira mentions your case, so if there is any hope for your account being restored, that might get your case the attention it needs. You could post in third party forums promoting the Jira issue, places like SLUniverse.

And one final word of warning. If you initiate a charge back, be prepared for your account to be frozen immediately. This came up a couple of times when VAT was initiated.

From: Jesse Barnett And one final word of warning. If you initiate a charge back, be prepared for your account to be frozen immediately. This came up a couple of times when VAT was initiated. At that point I believe the only way to get unfrozen is to successfully win a lawsuit against LL like Mark Bragg did and have reinstatement of your account be one of the conditions. A note on my post above. I did not mean to imply that your issues lately with LL are frivolous because they certainly aren't and I agree that the way that LL handles situations like yours doesn't make sense. What I meant was that the credit card company will see it as frivolous and not as a legitimate charge back reason which to go back to Jesse's post above I believe also ended up being the case with the VAT charge backs.

Well I have just been accused (wrongly) of fraud by Molly Linden, so that is going to be an interesting fight. Until I get a full written apology, I will be withholding the $100 that they say is due for the transfer of the sim. Weird that they are prepared to do transfers when there is no credit card details on an account. I'm fine with them deleting my account ... I am through. I've even organised a funeral and a gravestone to be situated permanently in Second Life.
I hope this does go to court as I have a very interesting counter claim against them!
