i been there. Unfortunatly theres not much there to enjoy .. its basically an empty grid. not many clothes or av accessories or anything for that matter . but hopfully someday these other grids get some nice creators there to make it at least almost as good as sl. i know id leave sl right away if there a place almost half as good.

I agree, already researched that place.......many many features are not working there, not even editing apearance. ALot of glitches to workout...much worse than SL.... its not secure on those othe grids, not at all...high risk down there. Though SIMs and land there is very cheap it might be feasible for anyone who wants to suppor that project. Like anything else it comes with risks......SL is quite mature so you might just think of other alternatives such as returning to parceled land.

For the most part they are progressing greatly....they will be better in about a year......

after spending many hours in the last few days on openlife to see what it has to offer.......I partly agree with your statement..........but only to the extent that it is still in beta..........however editing appearance works perfectly, is just a little different to the way one does it in sl.........I moved many things I have created in sl to openlife to test stuff......ok there are some glitches.......but LOL show me no glitches in sl ;)

To the risk arguement ...........ok permissions for stuff you create aren't set yet the same as in sl.......other than that the risks here in sl with LL type business policy seem to me way higher than on openlife............proof is the current opensim policy change.......i.e invest money have it taken away if LL decide they need more money ;)

Opensim has the one big advantage it is opensource and really is......A VIRTUAL WORLD BEING CREATED BY ITS RESIDENTS ..........not residents create LL kicks our butts because we just don't count anymore ( or maybe never have ).

OK at the moment it doesn't have a virtual economy in place...........is for people who like to have a business (like me ) a disadvantage. However I, and I think someothers will be creating things to give away free on opensim to help get things moving............because fact is the same way sl started you need people who will take risks to help get things moving...........without pioneer residents LL would never have been able to get sl to where it is.........and this is the main problem now........LL HAVE FORGOTTEN WHO HELPED MAKE SL WHAT IT IS ;)

I am not leaving sl yet..........but you will find me on opensim..........trying to do my little bit to help move things along and give LL something to start worrying about :)

Agreed, and in fact, I'll see you there and help! This is an amazing opportunity to establish oneself early in the next phase of what Second Life will transition into. As a business person, I wouldn't miss it. Won't make any money, but when you start out in business you never do anyway -- there is always that "establishing yourself" phase anyway.

And as I click the link the first thing I notice is the hairstyle on the avatar to the right. Familiar anyone?

It's identical to my first prim hair in SL...

Personaly I wish LL would adopt the same policy towards openlife that Redhat has toward Fedora or Novell towards OpenSuse.

Namely each of those for profit companies uses a completely open sourced project as its beta. Now not all the features of Fedora wind up in Redhat or vice a versa. But, It is a win-win situation in that all the parties involved get what they want. The open sourced desktop people get a good (some would say very good) operating system for free and the companies get development, R&D, and beta testing taken care at a very low cost.

Just my .02 lindens worth

It's funny listening to the SL refugees as they first rez there, and see themselves looking like newbs. You can hear shrieks of "Quick! Where's Naughty Skins! Where's Redgrave?!" (grin)
