An earlier thread mentioned that this increase would not be allowed in the real world and yes your right , it wouldnt but the lindens really dont seem to care how they treat the consumers who are lining their pockets. Here is the simple theory behind this tragic decision . As we all now SL is running slower since the openspaces have grown but who allowed this to happen , yes the lindens . Who profited from all the set-up costs involved ie: pose balls , textures , objects , tiers etc . They are clever people who must have knew that the servers and bandwith could only take a certain amount an allowed it to get to a point where is almost came to a stand still so the could reap the benifits .
So time for a decision came and that was to increase by such a s massive amount that predictably 50% of the openspace owners would not pay the increase and surrender the land , freeing up the servers again but , and here is the but , linden knows that even when the 50% of landowners droped out they would still make the same profits as the other 50% are paying more which would balance it all out .
I know some people who have spoke to their lawyers in relation the increase and yes im sure there will be a case to answer but it will take a people power to show the company that we the citizens of SL are what keeps them going . Do they forget that there is competition in the market, although not as good in respect of beauty and size . This sistuation is going down the road of microsoft and there belief that we cant do without them.
I am not a land owner but i do have a house in SL on openspace so it does effect me . . Every company is entitled to increase cost and thats fare , im in business im not stupid but within the boundries of the increase of the cost of living .
So in short i call on all the land owners to stop waffling and do something about it ,,,REFUSE TO PAY and if the powers dont accept your protest well then use your feet as they say in the real world. There are many ways to fight back .
Lindens if you are reading this all these people love your product , they appreciate all your inventivness and your hard work and are quiet happy to make you rich but dont push them too far.
im not going to suggest how to protest as thats the land owners battle but i will support any protest that comes our way as long as it is in everybodys interest . Like the real world , pick a day and a time and make sure you have all the support you need .
