Linden labs is maintaining that Class 4 sims are not grandfathered. They state the only grandfathered sims are class 5 sims that were only sold for a few weeks during the transition of class 4 to class 5.
When the upgrade of class 4 to class 5 occurs all class 4 holders tiers will be increased.
Since they will have more class 5 hardware around. It wont take long to wipe out the older and slower class 4.
Just thought everyone would love to know.

Where did you get this info from? the blog post only talks about open space sims running on class 4 hardware being forcefully upgraded without grandfathering not class 4 full sims that to my knowlidge still is grandfathered to the 195 usd tier.
I could be wrong offcourse.

Whereas I've never understood why grandfathered status should remain on transfer, unless I've missed a blog update your information is incorrect.
If you're talking about upgrading a class 4 to a class 5 then yes, I think they do get charged at the higher tier rate.

Support told me last night that class 4 sims dont carry a grandfather clause. Those selling them with this label need to reconsider it. The few class 5's grandfathered are rare and are grandfathered.
That is the point they will raise the class 4 tier at 195 to 295.
That is just what linden support told me. I hope the rep was wrong.

That is just what linden support told me. I hope the rep was wrong. The only time they said that was about Class Four Openspaces. Those are getting upgraded at the end of the year. There's been no announcement about Class 4 full sims, in fact the blog post said that those price increases and upgrades had nothing to do with full sims. That doesn't mean they won't do it, but by the end of the year, they are certainly no longer inside their 60 day deadline for notifications on price increases.
