I can understand when they explain that there has been an ABUSE " Openspaces are being used about twice as much as we expected, in other words being loaded with double the content/avatar load than we’d expect for a region that is supposed to be light use."
I know people that has 200!!! of these and rents them all in 1/4 sims. I agree that if someone is doing big business w/ something not intended for that use, the price and terms need to change. However, they need to foresee this kind of things and don't offer hands full of anything if they can't support it, LINDEN LAB is guilty of lack of vision in this sense....Even so, IS GREAT TO HAVE SL!
Some say 'this is supposed to be fun' it is!!! is like playing RL w/o being, in RL people is losing their homes also, and that's no game!
We will get over this, we are resilient.

From: Dhyana Writer We will get over this, we are resilient. This is a nice rose-colored glasses type sentiment, however, it's also very short sighted. Business plans cannot be carried out in an enviroment where you cannot control or even predict your base costs. Business cannot succeed without this. This is not the first huge, unpredicatable base price change LL has introduced. It's the fourth in appx 18 months (changes to sim prices and tier included in this comment). None of these have been small market adjustments, they've all been double digit. What does that mean? It means LL has no clear business plan for pricing their services which means businesses within Second Life can have no clear plan for the cost of doing business in Second Life which means that business cannot succeed in Second Life long term. So SL ain't all about business, it's also about creativity and having fun. Okay, you don't own an open space, so you're not impacted. Wrong. As businesses pull out, you'll have fewer opportunities to earn lindies to spend on clothes, houses, toys, whatever it is you do in SL and there will be fewer clothes, houses, toys and whatever to buy (because the businesses creating them will be gone) and the cycle will spiral downward. It's quite possible that sound you hear is the death rattle of the SL economy.

I dont see why people are saying there is Abuse .. there is no Abuse. The openspace has 3750 prims . its not like we can go over that limit . If the sim wasnt ment to handle that many prims thats LL fault not the sim owners or renter. Were only using what given to us. Thats like saying if i own a full sim and using all 15000 prim im abusing it cause im running it at full capacity . This Abuse excuse needs to stop its a cheap stupid reason LL is using to put the blame on everyone but themself.
and Ticious thanks for pointing out the Economy issue here. most dont seem to realize how many businesses an shops moved to openspace. Most of these shops will be closed down cause the owner cant afford to keep the land at new price. This make the total sl experience worse for everyone in the end. Its ashame LL dont care about that..

Probably all of this has been said before

You don't have to comment on this. I'm only ventilating my frustration. Increased tier will mean I can't afford my sim any more. And that means it's the end of my dream. I always wanted my own sim and the open space option was what I had been waiting for. I didn't care about bad performance because I finally could have a sim designed by myself. I will have to sell if tier increases and I'm not sure if I want to go back to a normal sim where I don't have the possibilities of landscaping and texturing as I have now. It certainly will be less fun in such a place.
When I bought the sim I asked the estate owner if there were any restrictions. The answer was I could do with the sim what I wanted... no restrictions. I'm not a heavy user. Most of the time the sim is empty. Once a week me and some friends have a party. And yes, we had about 20 people in at the same time once or twice... for about 2 hours. We didn't have any problems and I never needed LL's support. If we caused problems to others because it had an influence on performance in their sims, I would like to apologize. It's likely it won't happen again...
As I said before, I don't know if I'm interested in buying a smaller plot in a normal sim because it will be cheaper. It won't be designed like I want it to. There will be neighbouring places with buildings spoiling my view. It won't be the same as what I have now and it won't be as much fun. I'm seriously thinking about quitting SL completely if this will happen, a decision that will break my heart for other reasons...
