Redefine your sim products with open spaces, medium spaces, and high spaces. Then you charge the adjusted rates that people are willing to pay now and this cuts out the middle man, puts the money back in Lindens pocket. Tons of people were paying 125 dollars for Open Spaces, - your market is there, alot can't afford it because by the time the Land Baron jacks the price up it turns around to be 150. Thats why theres so much grief and trouble. Simply put, offer new alternative products to those that want to buy them, by letting us pay lindens directly and cut out your middle man.
Just a thought!

I understand the need and wish of the LL to make a profit from the growing trend of open space sims being used as more than a waterway and as more than a forest. Why not make a catergory of open space sims. Residential, commercial, and natural (waterways and forest..which is no habitual).
My solution is a simple one:
1. Set up Residential Open Space Sims for premium accounts. This can be at a reasonable price with reasonable prims. (Do a survey to determine what is reasonable). LL will definitely make a profit from this.
2. Set up Commercial Open Space Sims. This can be at a slightly higher tier rate because it is commercial.
3. Set up Natural Open Space Sims. These are what the open spaces was initially set up to be. (in other words Void sims with low prim)
See as I see it this has become an issue because many of us can not afford the Full prim sims not the set up fees nor do we need that much prim or can we afford the Tier. And you can not get an open space with out getting a full prim....ummm a catch 22 for those that have not noticed. Those of us that have premium accounts we have already taken the time to invest in SL why doesnt LL make our investments worth it.

Just a thought! I couldn't agree more with the above statement. I had already been paying US$110 per month for my open space sim before I found out of the price hike. It would be totally manageable to pay LL for my own if a Premium Account would be allowed to purchase themselves, cutting out the middle man and making my personal costs a bit more fair to my pocket. To be able to purchase a "medium" space would be absolutely perfect to be honest... even to get a "HALF" sim with HALF of everything. Half buy cost, half prims, half resources... that would be perfect. I'm not upset with the Openspace price hike and re-evaluation, it makes sense on LL side as they are being used for more than they were originally intended to be used for. I myself was "abusing" their intended use... ignorant that I was doing so, but I was doing it regardless. I was not aware of what their original intent was and had seen them used in the way I chose to use mine several times that I didn't think twice about living on there and running my small business off my Openspace. At the end of the day it would just be really nice to cut out the middle man as the above statement suggests. If dreams came true...

yeah the same, cutting out the land barons is going to put more money in lindens pockets than they are making now with set up feeds and the montly premium. Please Lindens, consider this.

I don't need an open space, I'd be happy with a privacy pocket.
Or even a skybox zone.

Yet again

Those who have put so much creative energy into the SL experience would get cut out. As I am sure they will.
Estates were the creative ideas of the developers and they are getting intensely sold down the river. Thousands will be lost for them.
Linden is not interested in anything we have to say.
It is full steam ahead for them.

Simply put, Ill pay linden my money and no one else, I don't have to worry about anyone screwing me up if they can't afford to give me a reasonable price on a sim, way I see it, lindens has a product I want, they can sell it to me. I'd gamble there are more than a few other people that would like this alternative to. I don't really care how much money estate owners lose at this point, its not my problem, that is why I didn't go into the land business to begin with.

The Land barron i purchased from has absconded. I would have much rather paid LL this money. now i have no sim at all and i can not buy a Private sim first. to buy an open space...so i guess homelessness is a thing of the future

I doubt that Linden Labs will allow anyone to rent an Openspace sim directly from them for the simple reason that the low price will not be sufficient to cover the additional work from dealing with thousands more calls for assistance which are all currently routed through or dealt directly with the current land owners.

No but they can sell us a better product now that they know there is a demand.

It's a great suggestion although I'd add an option for full sim owners to have true void ocean sims as they were in the past. So the openspace would be offered as direct sale to anybody who wanted one, and the voids would be just for those who have full sims.

correct..
In my opinion there needs to be a medium prim sim for those of us who would pay for one.
