Looking for Homestead

 I may be crazy after reading all the controversy on the Open Space sims...... but....I'm actually interested in getting a full homestead.

I've already bounced around and looked at some properties and many were quite beautiful. I am not looking to do any serious commercial builds. I have an Art gallery dedicated to my mom's paintings and drawings.....she passed in 2006. She had MS....so all I really want is a haven of my own to keep the gallery...allow people to wander in.....and purchase art or donate to the MS Society if they so desire.

So...my dilemma is this. In the nearly 3 years I've been an SL resident I've had enormously good luck with land purchases and estate owners. The island I am on now is residential and I have three 4096 plots. I love it.....the management group is fantastic and there's literally no lag (for me haha). I am very concerned about sacrificing that kind of business decency in pursuit of my own larger area. As I undertand it (and I have been doing my homework) I cannot 'buy' a homestead without first purchasing an entire region. Well I can't afford that. I'm not in this for land profits, so that is a non-option for me now, or ever.

Some of the homesteads I saw were offered 'for sale' as well as for rent. I find this unsettling since I KNOW that unless you own the entire estate.....you don't OWN the homestead. If the estate owner bails...you're screwed whether you 'bought' it or rent it. Needless to say I prefer to rent. It all boils down to making tier payments anyway so I don't se any reason to 'buy' a homestead that I will never truly own.

On that note......is there anyone who can show me some well placed homesteads, for rent. I know what the tier fee is now.....and what it will be in July.....and quite honestly I'm not too keen on the idea of putting extra money in an estate owners pocket. I am certainly more then willing to pay the actual tier fee on the land....now and when it increases. My aim here with this post is to find a reputable region to rent in......preferably something that has a degree terraforming. :o But most importantly I'd like to find a landlord who's integrity is in tact, because I plan to be a loyal resident.
