I think that as a protest all public access Openspace owners should disable public access for a week to show the rest of the residents on the grid what they are going to miss out on with this insane new policy and Openspaces closing down.
We should also organise mass protest marches (peaceful, WITHOUT griefing) at Linden Office hours and let our voice be heard.
Warn people that Linden Labs can no longer be trusted.
Spread the word as to why this is being done and with any luck news and media outlets other than blogs, which are mainly hidden to the general public, will report on this.
Linden Labs should not get away with this without their reputation being tarnished.
I mean, come on, a 67% price increase! That's ridiculous. If there had been a smaller increase - say 5-10% - then most would have lived with it, even if they had complained about it first.

I think protesting with our money will get the point across.
Downgrading all premium accounts to free ones and stop paying tier is the only way they will change things.

HI Guys

I don't know what the answer will be to this. My 13 OS sims are going to be rocked by this. And guess who .... DUH ... is going to be left holding the bag?
If anuything ... they should granfather current SIMs ... at least to give the market a chance to adjust. THen they can see ... "Hmmmm .... we haven't sold *any* OS sims since Jan 1. Maybe we made a stupid decision???"
I'm spittin' mad!

You want to protest with money it will take more then just downgraded and not paying tier, cash in your every last Linden and watch the heads spin. That aside though, there is alot more abuse in SL then what is caused in open space sims. Granted some do abuse this space and use it for things that they clearly shouldn't, but as some have already said, what about these tools that can be used for abuse. Why not go after these things? Better yet, this wonderfull voice feature that more then half us do not use that has caused nothing but problems from day 1 of it's use. It is just one big money game and land seems to be one of the biggest upper hands they have when it comes to that. It really just goes to show how much LL really does care. I can't speak for all open space renters/owners, but this is home to sum of us. We don't have heavy traffic, abuse the space, ect. A nice private place to be able to get away that we are already doing everything we can just to maintain. Don't go after the real problems and abusers, let's take the quickest and easist fix (wow..I actually said that like it was something new....).

this is nuts i pay almost 9000 to rent as it is i don't see the point in raising the price higher just because people are starting to fill the spaces to their potential i mean the residents shouldn't be responsible just because the people who created this program don't seek out the resources to expand the network

Sorry, but this is the most limp-wristed form of protest. The only protest they know is dollars. You have to vote with your feet for them to feel it.

Yes....protest is needed it seems. It worked with the Tea Crate Rebellion....the Lindens take our cash for granted, these days.
I feel there would be a lot of support for it.

Sorry but WTF does this mean? I see no violation of any contract between Linden Labs and their customers (me included). Some of you may be pissed at the thought of getting out of the real estate business or losing your open space sim because of cost but what does this have to do with trust?

So you trust LL not to make any more drastic changes suddenly that effectively end your business prospects in SL Bruno? because that is what this has done to a lot of people, and although I am not one of them, I am watching this and learning that LL make sudden drastic changes that they know will hurt a lot of their customers badly. Charging people to 'Buy' these sims then changing the price of the maintenance costs that the 'buyer' were told they would be paying and keeping the purchase price. Lets make open spaces have more prims..... lets make them easier to get..... now lets hike the price up and blame the residents for abusing the sims (ahem shhhhhh yes we knew they would do that when we doubled their prim usage but lets not mention that now

From: Bruno Buckenburger Sorry but WTF does this mean?... but what does this have to do with trust? Bruno, Ishtar is correct. Regardless of whether or not you agree with new Openspace pricing, if someone had said a week ago that Openspace Tier would go up by 67% (sixty-seven percent!) would you have believed them? Or would you havve just laughed it off and said "No way, would Linden Labs do that. 5% yes, 10%, maybe but 67%!". And yet Linden Labs did that and surprised everybody. Ok, now if I said to you that sometime in the future (don't know when) Linden Labs will raise Full Sim Tier by at least 50%, maybe 67%, what would you think? And if I also said that Tier on the Mainland will also raise by a similar amount sometime in the next few months what would you think? Last week most people would laugh at that "prediction". But now, after what has happened to the Openspace Tier, we all know now that anything is possible. In other words we can no longer trust Linden Labs to not do unexpected crazy changes which affect us in a negative way
