Give an option that preserves pricing and use for those using open sims in a responsible manner.

Limit the avitar max to 10 for those who want to retain current pricing, then seel those higher priced open sims to the ones who want them for more.

You have the ability to limit usage to 10 avs, use it and be done with this issue ina fair manner. don't penalize resonsible use.

If you can't do this then refund the 250 per sim price to those who turn in their sim.

Since prims are limited, I agree with an avatar limit, so 1/4 of a full sims resources should equate to 10-15 avatars per openspace . . .

Have to disagree...

If thats how they were sold... Then fine. You would have agreed to it when you purchased it.

But thats NOT what people bought. We should get what we bought and paid for.

Tea party anyone?

I agree with this solution.

Avatar limit is 40 by default and can be increase to 100 (but 80 is VERY laggy).
Turn the avatar limit to 10 by default and up to 20 and people using OS as full sim will have to uprade.

That would be a good solution from a technical standpoint. But the issue is not about solving the misuse of open sims. It never was. It is about manipulating the markets in order to maximize profits for LL.

I think I may be out of SL for good now... still thinking about it... but I will have to drop my one open sim I have and inform the renters there that a price increase of 67% is something that I can not accept, nor would I expect them to either.

right and they were also sold with 75$/month tier and not 125$ but clearly defined as low performance and meant to be way less used ...
So i do just have to agree here...
setting the default to 10 avis and maybe allowing 15... but no more. And not even an option for more for more money, this still causes the same problems...
Make a semi open sim for these? 7500 prims, 20 to 30 avis, 2 per cpu and charge 150$?

Sorry but that is exactly how they were sold. Anyone trying to operate one of there with more than ten av on then needs to check what light traffic means.

Limited to 10 people? Hell, FULL sims lag with 10 people.

This isn't about hardware, it's about money, money and likely bandwidth.

This is a perfectly good solution *if* the reasons stated for the price increase are true.

We didn't buy with those limits!

We were told when we bought the two open sims that they were for light use only?

Two avatars, two homes and the rest of the SIMS are wildlife, rivers, lakes and mountains ...NOW..if thats not LIGHT use you tell me what the hell is!!..

Its crap..plain and simple - you want to take the strain off your servers - not that I believe that story - but if you do- KICK THE DAMNED CAMPERS the hell out of SL!!!..that should free up a few thousand spots here on the grid!!

Once again they are just trying to sell the mainland properties - they want us all to pay tier fees, to create items we can't use anywhere else, and what do they want to give in return? A boot up our ass for trying to make this all work...enough!!..just..enough

This is actually sortofa a good point, despite the rest of your post.

Just the number of avatars, within reason, really isn't the issue. Limiting that to a max of 10 might help with the truly & horribly serious offenders of openspace abuse but I think that's about it.

One maxed out avatar, and you've all seen the type I mean, can cause more stress on a sim than 20 newbies. Also, the act of one avatar TPing into a sim ('sepecially if they are tricked out) causes a lot more stress than one that's just hanging out in a sim.

This problem isn't as simple as it sounds..

Yeah? Who told you that it was ok to put a house up? The info I've seen from LL says pretty clearly that that's NOT what they're for.
