Dear LL,
I was taken aback by your announcement about tier raises that not only doesn't solve the problem of overload for openspaces but it was also made at a time of a GLOBAL CRISIS and imminent RECESSION.
I have my share of RESIDENTIAL openspaces and normal prim sims. The maximum number of concurrent users on any one of the openspaces is never more than 5. Does this "residential" use consist an overload? It could, in VERY rare cases, so we can say that the answer to this question is NO.
My idea of an overloaded sim would be one with much traffic and scripts running. Only commercial sims would match this description and yet not all of them. A commercial sim though is there to make money. Do you think that they would MIND paying the raised tier? They EARN money, they pay money. So they will keep using their sims as they did before.
As you see, your decision to raise tiers will affect ONLY the basic user who comes in SL to have a talk with their friends and spend THEIR money in YOUR economy. These people are those who make the SL world go around and you want to make them PAY MORE?
I add my voice to all who are asking you to reconsider before everything becomes too unpleasant for many of us. You have created a world for all to ENJOY and now you are taking HARD MEASURES that affect MANY for a problem that is caused by very FEW.
As I have already proposed in my first forum post after the announcement, technical throttles (limit max number of users, limit running scripts, etc) would address the problem
EFFECTIVELY and more EFFICIENTLY than any tier raise. In the meantime, I'm sure you can see which sims overload the servers and take them offline.
DON'T punish the MANY for the acts of the FEW. It's not fair.
Kind regards,
Erika Maertens
