M Linden: On November 5th you made this statement in the Blog "Jack and I will join you in the forums throughout the day today to discuss this. Comments are closed on the blog, not because we want to limit dialog or free expression but because this is a conversation with Residents and the forums require log-in. This is a policy we are going to follow moving forward with all major announcements. Blog the announcement, express and discuss in the Forums."
However, you did not join residents in the forum on November 5th to discuss anything and unless I am making some error in searching the forums you did not at any time since enter into a discussion with residents on this issue.
The one and only post I am able to find in the forums that you made is this one posted on November 13th which was followed by the closing of the discussion thread.
"Everybody,
This has been a very robust thread with a lot of dialog and back and forth. I've kept up with all the posts as you've shared them. Since most were specific to the price change, I thought Jack -- the person responsible for Land here at Linden Lab -- would be the best person to answer them.
In addition to the posts here, I have gotten a lot of emails and note cards from residents with many thoughts, ideas, concerns, some anger and frustration but also messages of hope and support. Thank you all for sharing your views so profusely!
There is a lot of feedback that will be very useful as we evolve our land product further.
Thank you again for sharing your thinking and your feelings.
Best,
M Linden."
I realize that a real discussion with residents in a forum regarding and issue that has over 3000 documented residents up in arms and where thousands of posts were logged in a very short period of time is logistically difficult if not impossible for anyone much less someone who has to go about the day to day duties required of a CEO of corporation.
However, there are some commonly and frequently asked questions that have not been answered and need to be addressed as they are vital to the future planning of the residents affected by this policy change and price increase.
I would like to appeal to you to answer a few of them here and I would like to propose that you elect someone act as liaison and take questions from residents, sort and consolidate them ensuring that they are relevant to the residents affected as a whole and post them here in one thread individually where you can address them.
I will start with these questions:
1. Is LL considering grandfathering those low prim sims that were sold in the 5 month period prior to Oct 29th with the understanding that they would be 65,536sqm, 3750 prims, and tier of $75 per month?
2. Is LL considering refunding the $250 set up fee to those residents that purchased low prim sims during this 5 month period and have since given them back to LL because of the policy change and price increase?
3. Is LL considering raising the prim limit back to the original 1875 prims that was originally allotted for residents who purchased their low prim sims prior to 3/7/08 and use them for public waterways and park lands?
4. If any of the above are being considered, when can the residents expect a decision on such matters?
4. What assurances can LL give residents that there are no plans to increase tier so dramatically and suddenly on other land products in the future.
5. What are the plans at LL to acknowledge that this issue and perhaps moreover the way it has been handled has damaged consumer relations between the residents and the lab and what measures are planned to restore trust and strengthen relationships between the residents of Second Life and Linden Labs?
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Sincerely,
Lucinda
