Bad Font Rendering

Okay, let's try this again...

Something has changed with the font rendering used between v1.23.4 and the v1.22 and previous viewers. With every viewer I have used to this date, text has always been crisp, clear, and perfectly readable. However, with 1.23.4, with identical settings as the previous viewers, text is blurry and disappears slightly at the tops and bottoms of the text. I can run 1.23.4 side-by-side with 1.22.11, and the difference in text rendering quality is like night and day!

My specs, though I don't think they should be a factor if only one version of the viewer is affected:

Operating System: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic (Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty) x86
Video: nVidia 8600M-GS, 512MB
Driver: nVidia (restricted) 108.44
OpenGL: 3.0.0

I have tried tweaking various settings both with my viewer and with my graphics drivers, trying to improve the text quality, but nothing helps. Is this a known issue with this viewer version? Has a JIRA been filed on it? Should I file one? Is there a workaround for this issue, or should I go back to using v1.22.11 before my eyes start to bleed?

The sentence completion system also appears to be having some difficulty.

If it's the bigger monospace font, it's not the rendering but the font itself that changed. No one bothered to adjust the size to match. It's a quick but annoying fix:

If it's some other problem, I hope you weren't abducted by aliens in mid-sentence and can finish that thought!

Well if your fonts looked crooked, try to switch of Anti Aliasing, that helped me ;-)

Sorry guys, stupid forum won't let me post anything without giving me the damned 404 error, and it wouldn't let me delete the thread or even edit my post.

ETA: Well I'll be damned! LL had managed to bork the forums to such a high degree that the WYSIWYG text editor no longer works, and I had to switch to the basic editor!

This is the issue I'm having: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-14163. A picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look at the screenshots I attached there.
