I have installed the new viewer - Second Life 1.23.1 (119104) May 4 2009 17:53:10 (Second Life Release Candidate).
There must have been changes in Advanced menu - Debug settings. "avatarcompositelimit " is not there anymore.
Under what name can this function be found now?

It no longer exists. If an avatar isn't baked you will now see a Ruthcloud (or Ruth hair without a body, if you turn on renderunloadedavatar).
