After 3 1/2 years in SL, I've gotten used to the pie menus... NOW, they have to mess with those. I'm so annoyed. If I'm editing my hair attachment, I don't want to go into appearance...I want to go into EDIT!!! Revert the pie menus!!!!! Created a JIRA for this: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13384

I still like an addition to the Pie Menu that I've wanted every since 1st joinging Seconf Life and learning all about prims.
I want to right click on any item and there be a PRIMS option there which when I click on just simply tells me home many prims any item is.
As prims (how many) are one of the biggest factors in the SL world.
Seems very prehistoric that we have to effectivly go into EDIT mode (as if we are going to try and edit an item for sale) just so we can see the prims on the general tab of this menu

From: Wulfric Chevalier why would I click on an attachment if I wanted to edit appearance? because is a hassle trying to get that point where there are no invisible prims around your avatar. and to edit the appearance you won't have to take off your attachments. many of you are afraid of change, if something is not the way it was months or years ago. the SL client needs improvements for 2 reasons: 1) because if not, is going to be outdated while the rest of technology moves on, imagine having this same client in 2020 while other virtual worlds would have viewers 30x times more amazing. and 2) because second life has been greatly improved, awesome piece of software, all of it, but still some newbies find it difficult to use. not everybody is a creator and they couldn't care less about the edit option. just confuse them more. users are free to use sl as they wish so, play shooting games, admire artistic places, make friends from around the world or something else that we don't imagine. I help as many newbies as I can and that's a very advanced feature for them. it's ok to have it in the secondary menu knowing which options were arranged on the first one. and come on guys, it's not so hard to get used to, if you're smart enough to use the edit window, you're smart enough to learn how to use the menu. I already got used to it and find it very welcoming, a better experience.

Missing detach

Biggest bugbear for me is that you have to click through More to get to Detach. I'm used to simply right-click | detach for quickly removing accessories. Found it so annoying, I'm using the normal client for now.

I like the new pie behavior. I don't have to try to get pass attached objects to do basis stuff to myself, which I do more often than editing an attached object.

The problem with this attempt to modify the pie menu--so much used by ALL in many different ways--is that no attempt was made at testing its usability before hand. Just a buncha engineers talking to other engineers and not giving a damn about the huge number of people who actually use it.
Henry Ford had a great idea in the Model T, but then he ran it into the ground by not paying attention to his customers' changing desires and needs: "They can have any color they want as long as it's black." You actually have to talk to people and learn from them in order to make successful products. "Horrors!"

Found it so annoying, I'm using the normal client for now. I agree - and it's illogical to have one action to edit an object and a different one to edit an attachment. If I'm using the RC, I now click/edit another item, then click the attachment I actually want to edit, which is marginally quicker than working through the pie menu, but irritating to say the least.

You don't have to take off anything to edit appearance, it's in the Edit menu, but the only way to edit an attachment is by going through the pie menu. From: Ella Axel not everybody is a creator and they couldn't care less about the edit option. Editing attachments is not mainly about creating, it's about making the attachments fit properly. From: Ella Axel I help as many newbies as I can and that's a very advanced feature for them. it's ok to have it in the secondary menu knowing which options were arranged on the first one. Newbies often abandon hair, especially freebie hair, because it doesn't fit - learning to edit attachments is not "very advanced" it's a pretty basic function - and it just got very slightly harder to learn.

maybe what we need to do is to abandon the pie menu. how about a normal menu with all the options right there without going into levels of menus?

That's irrelevant. Even if you don't know about clicking on your nametag, they could put the avatar menu at the next level, instead of moving the edit menu.

I too dislike the new RC cliant dew to the changed Pie menu.
I no longer can easily swap my group tags and the edit option needs to be on the main level not in a sub... that was just plain retarded. They changed it up a while back also and it was better but this... come on... what next were all gonna have a banana permately sticking out our ear?
LL I havent asked mutch from yall in the 6 or so years ive been with yall but Please dont change the pie menu to this.

I'm still hating the no less/collapsed option on Edit! I mod a lot but also build, both circumstances it is annoying not to be able to do Less anymore.

The menu is so annoying now. And where did "Groups" go? It seems you can't do half the things you used to be able to do from the pie menu. Fix this please !

Ok the new pie menu stinks! I think most will agree to that for many reasons. This change to something so basic is a terrible idea. Apparently the people at LL have not heard of "muscle memory". That is when you have done something the same way for years it is VERY hard to unlearn it, and learn a new way.. After almost 3 years here I am VERY used to where things are, I tend to right click, and left click where I expect the menu option to appear. It is a natural thing to do.. This change will break all of that, make me into a newbie again as far as that menu goes.. Bad, bad, bad move LL. But........... I did find something good in all of this, in an other discussion I found out the pie menus are just XML files. I can edit those and make my pie menus look just how I like. So I will just undo LL's little disaster myself. Just like I did with all the communication windows when they added voice. Lizzy

..SecondLifeReleaseCandidateInstallFolder.......\skins\default\xui\en-us\menu_pie_*.xml Open, edit, save a copy elsewhere so you don't lose your edits when a new version is installed. Profit.
It's not that hard to copy and paste a few things into different positions. I like to swap 'return' and 'pay' so 'return' is the first pie. Best not to whine about thngs you can easily customize yourself anyway.
Right click appearance on prims is good if you are totally covered in them. Also, ctrl-3 opens edit... from there you can edit attachments like anything else.

I like to stick with the age old addage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." It's bothersome to go to right click and remove clothing only to hit that appearance button now. If I wanted to edit appearance, I'd click on my name tag to get there or go through the pull down menus at the top of the screen. I'd go in and fix it myself with the way that the person above me posted, but when I look at code my head begins to hurt. I say just go back to the original pie menu and put back in the less button option again, then all will be right in Second Life once more.

The code is simple once you understand how to recognize the chunks that its formatted in.
You could install an older version, pull the relevant xml files from it, and put them into your new install.

The pie changes have driven me insane!
Someone said earlier in the thread that we're all simply afraid of change. Rubbish! This was change for the sake of change! Put the damn thing back as it was. If it was change for the better then fine, we adapt but this change has done nothing but add layers of complexity to something that simply didn't need it.

WHat I dont like about the damn pie menu in any version is, and Ive had this hapopen many times- you go to edit a building or something, click on it, and the pie comes up and every now and then the cursor bounces over as that comes up and hits "TAKE", arghh!!
I had it happen the other night in final editing of a 100 prim building I needed to tweek a part of, and since it was grouped except the doors, the whole thing vanished into inventory leaving the doors in mid air.
Lucky,m rezzing it back out I only had to adjust it's location a little.
Stupid "take" should have a second confirmation or be removed, any way to disable that "slice" in the pie menu?
