I had to reinstall my os and I reinstalled SL and it is HORRIBLE. It crashes every 10 minutes and my shoes and legs look awful. They arent seamless anymore. The crashing has made me just want to quit playing. It completely freezes my computer to the point that I have to manually turn it off and on again. I am using a different viewer but its still the same thing. I had a tech go over my hardware and there arent any issues there. I dont know what to do anymore. I feel like one of my few joys is gone. ;(

If you've reinstalled your OS my first advice would be to make sure that you update your graphics drivers...

What exactly caused you to have to reinstall your OS in the first place?

What operating system? You could try going to the "Can you run it?" site and seeing what it says, and tell us what it tells you about your system.

For some reason I couldnt get any media player to load. It didnt give a reason it just didnt load. My programs worked but not windows media player or real player. I eventually could get an old version of wmp to work. I shouldve just stopped there. I couldnt get System Restore to load either. The Dell tech recommended that I just reinstall the os. So thats what I did. SL is the only program that I am having any problem with. I just uninstalled this version of sl and Im going to install the one just under the latest one and see if that will work for me. I did update the video card driver but I have a hard time believing that just that could cause sl to freeze up like this. It isnt just sl that freezes its the entire computer and I have never had this problem before with ANY program.

No. I dont know about the driver for the graphics card. I did reinstall the old driver but that didnt work. I have the newest version of sl uploaded but I uninstalled it and Im going to install the version just under the new one. I hope that works.

I will do that right now. Thank you. Ill let you know what it says.
It says everything passes but my video card but why would it work just fine before and not now? It doesnt make sense to me.
That is a cool site though. Thank you for passing it on. ;)
First it says the video card passed then it said it failed. I dont know what they mean.

It really does sound like some problem with the video card/driver, tho. Few other subsystems would freeze the entire computer when SL starts.

What video card do you have, and what driver?

And, did you install the same OS and rev that you had before you reinstalled it? That is, you went from XP to XP, or Vista to Vista? If you went from XP to Vista, there might be more things to investigate.

I installed the same os. No upgrades. I dont understand why it would work fine before and not now.

Well I uploaded version 1.21.6 and everything looks normal. At least this way Ill be able to plan on buying a new video card and play this version till they say I absolutely have to upgrade to a newer one. Havent even froze up yet.

UPDATE, since Ive had this version I have had no problems. Not one.
Thank you all for your help and suggestions. As always I greatly appreciate them. ;)
