Nope! Not for me!
![]() ![]() But if you are looking on what they changed/fixed/added and how many stuff they removed from the build (filesize dropped from ~35 MB to ~21MB) I would have been suprised if it would have been stable at all... lol... And then they had some special changes in this release (see also. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release_Candidate/1.21 Temporary Changes: We have enabled some special debugging checks during the Release Candidate cycle. These have a short term effect of causing the viewer to crash more when something goes wrong, but it assists Linden Lab to improve stability by identifying those failure cases. We appreciate that you send us crash reports that occur! These extra checks WILL be removed in a later iteration of the Release Candidate. But these can be turned off by a Resident at any time:
So I expected the crash rate to be higher than normal! Regards, Shyan |

On my MacBook Pro, I find 1.21 RC0 markedly superior to any viewer so far in terms of performance and stability. I'm archiving it in case future RCs backslide.

1.12 back in Nov2006 was the worst I think. That one was pretty bad, wasn't it? 1.21 is driving me nuts but I haven't tossed it and gone back to 1.20. Yet. I've heard lots of people unhappy with the watchdog timer thing. Not sure I understand that - it only kicks in when SL has been frozen for over 20 seconds. I'd rather they just left that on and worked on the FPS and crashes that don't lock up SL first.. _____________________

We plan on turning off the debug "Thread monitoring" by RC2 or RC3. The data we collect in the meantime is what helps us make this a more stable viewer! Thanks in advance for crashing it once or twice-- you've help create the trail to the weak points in the viewer code.
