I wanna see if we can button together a recourse of good GPUs for shadow rendering in SL. (^_^)
When posting, please try to included these details:
-- SL Graphics mode: Low, Mid, High, Ultra
-- Screen/Window resolution
-- OS
-- CPU
-- RAM
-- <<Graphics card model and memory size>>
-- <<SL FPS in a region with 5 to 10 avatars>>
I'm not being scientific... I just wanna see a rough sample of cards -vs- SL performance so that I can continue to say "No lag on me!" once I start clicking on shadows for good. =^-^=

Post SLURLs too, please. There's a difference between getting 20fps in Aerobreeze and in Charkryn Forest.

From: Papalopulus Kobolowski Another intresting thing is this Light proyection ? yeah. it's the same principle that will let objects cast shadows (not Sun&Moon only), and you can even project webpages or movies by projecting the Parcel Media texture. for more details see my comment at http://forums.secondlife.com/showpost.php?p=2450891&postcount=75 (I already crossposted it once - sorry about this but writing a lot in English is hard to me)

No shadow rendering here at all. Macintosh with an ATI Radeon HD 2600.

From: Imnotgoing Sideways Oooooh.. I like the sound of that. (o.o) Yep, I have an 8800 GT and had been happy with it till this week. Had to stop at the computer parts store for work and a GTX 285 was whispering seductively to me as I walked by. And the gtx 295 made me think very naughty thoughts

I like the idea of using Torley's Here as an example. Now... Time for me to put up some numbers. (^_^)
CPU: AMD (Unknown model) (1874 MHz) **Misreported || It's Dual AMD64 FX74 3.0Ghz Memory: 8192 MB OS Version: Professional (Build 7100) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 8600 GT/PCI/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 8.15.0011.8581 OpenGL Version: 3.0.0
I'm using a pair of MSI 8600 cards in SLI mode and with 1.23rc4 I'm seeing about 6 to 7 FPS in Here. (^_^)y

The only problem with this thread is that the official viewer won't let you photograph shadows.
But hell with that. I want to see those projections.

E8400 Dual Core GT9800 GC 3 Gig. DDR3 Super Talent RAM Striker II Extreme MOBO Settings at Ultra~maximum draw and AA
I forgot the club I was at, but there were 19 avies dancing and tons of particles flying around. With the lighting the way it is with shadowing turned on it might be nice to have the option of setting the light intensity of a lit prim.

28 to 32 FPS E8400 Dual Core Nvidia GT9800 3 Gig. DDR3 Super Talent RAM Striker II Extreme MOBO 4 WD500 GIG HD RAID 0 Odd thing is I set all of the settings as low as they will go and still display shadows and only gained 4 FPS. The screen capture I took while doing the test is 5 MB. Too big to post and compressing it just ruins the effect. If you want to see it just goto my profile and email me a request.
