Age veryfication

Guys i am very confused about this what LL doing - why I should give them my whole details about me ? Why they want know about me too much ? Like where do i live, where do i born, my passport number or ID number etc. I'd like to keep this data private. This idea with age veryfication is really bad !! I wont give any of my private data to Lindens. I value my privacy so much and Lindens should understand this - but they dont and push people to give them access to our privacy other way we cant go to mature sims - even we are over 21 yrs old. Sorry for my bad english - is still in progress - Hope is more people like me what they won't give any private data to LL.

I have several friends with the same problem, they aren't using credit cards or paypal and also don't wish to divulge private information and so get bounced from adult land despite their ages being well into adulthood.

It's a real pain during hunts.

Hi Robert, welcome to the forums. You are right to be confused, LL has really messed up policies on maturity ratings.

There are now two systems in place to limit access.

1. The first was the one you are complaining about, "age verification" requiring some form of private information. Now, this system is mostly obsolete, although there are still a few parcels and sims that require age verification.

2. In order to access adult areas like Zindra (Ursula) sims, you just need an Adult rating, you DO NOT need "age verification". Instead, you just need to have a "verified account" ... that is, either put payment info like a credit card on file with LL, or use a "verified paypal account" on either the Lindex or XStreet SL. A "verified Paypal account" is one that is linked to one of your real life bank accounts.

Now that the Adult rating is in effect, many of us would like to eliminate age verification, which is buggy and mostly redundant. If you would like to eliminate it too, vote for: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4489

Hey on that note the age verify will not work for me and i need help with it please. i have tryed both my license and SS and still tells me it failed please fix this issue.

Telling other residents on the forums will not help. You need to open a support ticket with the Linden staff, its on top of the page, right under the robot.

(We have known for a long time their age verification system is broken, both not accepting real ID, and accepting random dead people's ID - the problem is getting the third party verification provider to fix their damn databases so they are current).
