i hope this is the right place, if not please forgive me and redirect
today wheni signed on or tried to sign on i was told i had to go to the new vewer to use sl, so i accepted the download which failed and caused n error message that sl has stopped working and close the program and to try later which i did with thr same result
.....then i noticed i cant get sl to load thru my shortcut or thru program files i get an error message and it says to shut it down
so i went and removed sl from my computer ,reimstalled it from the download page...if i go to sl right after the download when it asks if it wants to sign into sl i can sign on however if i leave sl and try to come back i have to redownload the program all over again can anyone help me with this it is so very frustrating i use windows vista, nvidia g force 8500 video card thanks for your time you may contact me in world thanks shag telling

From what I heard so far, you are not the only one with mayor issues on this update.
I don't know the answer to make this vviewer work, but to me, sounds like your pc is up to the task.
My advice would be, try an alternative like Emerald or maybe Snowglobe.

Snowglobe can be found on the Second Life download page and Emerald on www.modularsystems.sl

My friend had this problem yesterday, after he had installed SL only about 2 hours before.
I tried to log in just now and had the same thing going on.
-shall try to snowglobe and thing-

My viewer update failed on the first try and a message from windows (vista) said it would correct it,(sorry but i can t remember the exact message)
On the next try the update went through ok and i could download it

Failed Download Clarification

The Error Message That I Am Getting When I Try To Launch Sl From Program Files Or A Shortcut On My Desktop Is A Windows Box It Says A Problem Has Caused Sl To Stop Working Please Close The Program So Unless I Go And Re Download The Whole Program I Cant Pull It Up At All And Then It Is A One Time Deal If I Sign Off I Have To Redownload Again

SAME PROBLEM

I can't get in, I have got businesses & JOBS!!
i have to be able to get into sl, I cannot get this to work, I am also on vista.
I NEED to get in. ASAP.

I'd try

1. Uninstall SL.
2. Download the new installer from the download page. Do not install it.
3. Delete the settings.xml file.
4. Delete any remaining shortcuts to SL.
5. Restart computer.
6. Install SL.

i stumbled upon a solution to my failed download

after going through all the uninstall deletes restarts etc etc it still failed to run it would download i run vista home premium with norton 360 virus protection it seems that it sees the program as a threat so you have to either go into your control panel and unlock your users or right click on your program or shortcut and click on run as administrative user and it access sl fine from that point, unless you unlock your user preferences you have to do that each time to sign on i have made sl tech supposrt aware of how the new viewer acts with this operating system combination hope this helps you

right clicking on the second life icon and selecting Run as administrator did work for me! THANK YOU
