Server Release Beta : Announcements

This thread will be used for announcements about beta testing of upcoming server releases.

Sometime during the day on Friday 2008 November 7, I will take aditi down for 1/2-1 hour and refresh the database. At that point, everybody who had an account on Second Life as of a couple of days ago will be able to log in to the Preview Grid. Also, your inventory on aditi will be replaced with your inventory on agni as of the time when you first log into aditi after the database refresh.

The aditi database has been refreshed. The snapshot is from a couple of days ago. Everybody with accounts on Second Life as of a couple of days ago should now be able to log in to aditi.

OK! We resume trying to get 1.25 out.

1.25.3 is now on aditi, and we think this is a happy deploy ready to go.

WHAT WE NEED : everybody test all your gadgets! The scariest thing is that something we didn't test, because we didn't realize that some interaction of code affected it, will break.

Hey all--

Aditi will be down for a couple of hours on Monday Feb. 2 (we're not sure exactly when) as we upgrade the hosts from Debian Sarge to Debian Etch.

OK, it took a bit longer than hoped, but aditi is back online.

The machines running aditi are now all on Debian etch. Log in, futz around, let us know if you find anything that's not working.

A preliminary version of server 1.26.0 has been installed on the "Second Life Beta Server" regions of aditi.

I will start a forum thread about 1.26.0 beta testing.

Late this week and early next week, I intend to refresh the aditi database.

What this means:

* new users since the last aditi database refersh will have access to adit
* your agni inventories will be recopied over to aditi, so new agni stuff you have will become available on aditi
* aditi-specific stuff you have in your inventory will be lost

To mitigate the third point, if you have some scripts or test objects on aditi only that you do *not* want to lose, I'd recommend using cut-and-paste to back up the script source copy yourself. Additionally, you can rez out objects you want to keep on "Object Backup Land" which can be found on the East side of Sandbox Cordova on aditi. Please don't fill this parcel up, so others are able to use it! Consider rezzing out a few prims with the stuff you want to keep in the contents of the prims you rezz out.

Aditi database refresh and simstate wipe is done. Aditi is back up. You should have a copy of your account as of last Friday, and a copy of your inventory as of the moment you first log into aditi after I got it back online tonight.

All simstates have been refreshed with a new copy from agni.

"Second Life Beta Server" regions on Aditi are now running a preliminary version of server 1.27.0.

UPDATE 2009-06-18 @13:49: This work is complete. The next time you log into Aditi, your inventory will be copied over from Agni.

UPDATE 2009-06-18 @13:22 Pacific: This work is beginning now.

During the afternoon on Thursday, June 18th, 2009, we will begin enabling a setting that will refresh your Aditi inventory the next time you log into Aditi. This inventory refresh will only happen once, the first time you log in to Aditi after we make this change.

This means that if you've built anything on Aditi and you've got it in your inventory, it will be lost when you log in after we make the change on Thursday.
